The Descendant: Now Compatible with Game Controllers

The Descendant

In THE DESCENDANT, the end of the world is only the start. With what remains of humanity protected in underground Ark facilities, your mission is to keep survivors alive, while discovering a far greater conspiracy buried within Ark-01.

A new update to The Descendant has been released. This update now allows to play the game with major controllers for better immersion. NEW FEATURES

The game is now compatible with major game controllers, including nVidia Shield, Steam and Xbox360 controllers
New Office area added in Episode 1
FIXES

Localization tweaks and improvements
Solved an issue where if you copied a save file to a new slot, you had to “Resume” play for this new save file in the Episodes Menu to avoid losing progress
Improved font legibility for subtitles on "Previously on...", "Next Time on..." and newscaster videos
Fixed a visibility issue with the code to a keypad when playing with Donnie in Episode 2
Improved overall stability of the title
KNOWN ISSUES

In rare cases, you can get blocked in Episode 2 Janitors Quarters after a multiple choice dialog between Donnie and Randolph. If this issue occurs, please quit to Main Menu and resume
When playing in low graphic settings, the characters can appear brighter than usual
During a conversation between Mia & Silas in Janitor Quarters in Episode 1, the cursor can disappear during the choices but you can still make the choice
In very rare cases the CCTV scene with Randolph and Donnie in Episode 3, is not triggered, if this happens, the workaround is to return to the Main Menu and resume play from the last checkpoint
Visual effect for the last scene of Episode 2 with Mia can, in rare occasions, be missing a texture
In some resolutions the cursor in the Main Menu doesn't scale down correctly. It is fully functional though
Mac OSX only: In rare cases during Episode 1 playing with Mia in the Water treatment area, the character can walk slightly out of the delimited area and that affects the rendering of the character
Mac OSX only: In some specific hardware configurations the game can have some sporadic fps lags but this doesn't prevent playing
IMPORTANT NOTE:

Switching between mouse and controller is not seamless. For a better playing experience we recommend to only play the game with one input method to avoid undesired side-effects
Buttons for interactions are assigned on the fly upon camera changes
The amount of interactions that appear on screen is limited to 7 so in places with lots of interactions in a small area it's necessary to move around to be able to interact with them all
Unfortunately playing with a controller is not officially supported on OSX for now. To our knowledge, the nVidia shield controller is not compatible with Apple hardware, the Steam controller currently has issues and the Xbox360 controller doesn't have native support for OSX and this is unfortunately outside of our control, so we cannot provide official controller support for OSX.
