From the creator of Speed Dating for Ghosts comes a new weird text adventure about death and sleep paralysis set in the late 1980s.
Today I made the difficult decision to postpone the initial release of Slumber Clause.
Our tiny development team of three was pushing to release Episode I into Early Access in time for Halloween 2020, a pretty ideal time to introduce a new weird, narrative horror game into the world.
Sadly, the Summer of Coronavirus has been a parade of speed bumps and gear wrenches as I juggle AAA writing commitments with indie passion projects like Slumber Clause.
Slumber Clause is a game I've wanted to make for years—and I want to make sure it is as good as it can be.
Releasing the game episodically through an early access model is meant to help on this front, as episodic + early access supports the game's ongoing development financially, while also providing us with essential player feedback as we squash bugs, polish the writing, and add new episodes.
Our initial release still needs to be pretty rad, though. And to hit that bar of pretty rad, I need more time to write and test.
Basically, I don't want to rush this thing. :(
So for now, Slumber Clause's Ep. 1 release date is sitting at the ultra-vague date of "2020." I'm flirting with the idea of releasing it when it's ready, setting it live with little warning, "when you least expect it." Whether we go this route or announce a new specific date, you'll be the first to know by wishlisting the game and/or following us on Twitter.
Thank you for your patience, and for your support of Copychaser's weird little games.
