Find your way back home before Metsänpeitto, an otherworldly plane of existence, consumes you. Lempo is a psychological horror game inspired by Finnish mythology with an emphasis on exploration.
Hello Lempo's Lost Souls,

It's been some time since Lempo released. We hope that it didn't catch you yet and you were somehow able to escape the forest afterall.

If you were stuck somewhere along the first two levels, then here is our token of gratitude!
Moving on to the next question or shall we say questions! Yes, we collected some frequently asked questions from the community and we present you the answers to them all in one place.
Here are the TOP 10 chosen ones!

Question #01:What was the hardest thing about making this game?
The hardest thing was getting the story together since we had sooooo many awesome ideas. We had to drop a lot of them but we believe the end result came up just as it should!
Question #02:Will you allow players to make mods?
For now, official mod support isn't included in our upcoming plans.
Question #03:Who is your favorite character in Lempo?
KOUKO!
Question #04:How much time did you work on Lempo?
Lempo started as a hobby project in June 2020. Full-time production kicked off the first day of 2022. So in total it was about a 3 year project.
Question #05:Did you use assets from marketplace(excluding horror engine)? The game feels very original.
Yes. But most of the meshes were made by us. You can see the asset names in the end credits. Since most of the project was done with a team of three and our vision of the game was from the beginning quite ambitious, it was crucial to use also some assets.
Question #06:What was the initial spark to make Lempo; is it something you've been ruminating on for a while before making it?
The initial spark was a simple phone call: "Hi. Would you like to do a video game with me?" Honestly, that's how Lempo was born. Though at that time it was "just" a puzzle game - the Finnish mythology and horror elements joined the ride after the project had already started.
Question #07:It could be said that video games as an art form operate mostly in the realm of realism (much like film and TV), even if the subject matter includes elements of fantasy, often mechanics and general interactions will follow rules of realism or logic. Do you think this is important for structuring games, and do you feel that Lempo could be considered abstract in any way?
Throw away the rules. Keep them if you like. In Lempo we did both, so yes: it has also abstract elements. It really depends on the game but we for sure love abstract thingies in games!
Question #08:How is the accessibility for different controllers? Like if someone has custom native controllers because they do not have full control of their hands/fingers?
While this is a thing we’d love to include, we had a small team and had to prioritize quite a lot. At the moment, we only have basic controller support built in game. That said, many controllers might have their own software and could work perfectly fine.
Question #09:Is it there an option to increase the size of the subtitles? It looks pretty small in the screenshots.
Unfortunately at the moment the text size is not customizable. We’ll see if there is a possibility to add this in a future update.
Question #10:Aside from the obvious (Finnish mythology, getting lost in the woods) what were big non-game inspirations for Lempo if any? What games were inspirational?
Big non-game inspirations: Twin Peaks, Grimms' Fairy Tales, real life stories of people who have disappeared, Blair Witch Project, old Finnish music.
Games: Myst, Dark Souls, The Room, Alan Wake, Silent Hill, Abe’s Oddysee
