To unlock it, you need to play the main story campaign until you encounter the biomass (how long it takes varies from playthrough to playthrough, generally a few hours). From then on, when starting a new game, you will be able to select [i][b]‘The Purge’[/b][/i] campaign and help the [i]"Independent Regenerative System"[/i] (as the biomass is known to its friends) take over the galaxy.
