Hey everyone! We recently took a little stroll down memory lane and gathered a bunch of concept art for Nobody Saves the World, a lot of which has never been seen before! (even by some of us!)
Nobody Saves the World might already seem full of lots of different ideas, but for every 1 idea that made it into the game, there were 10 that we had to whittle down from!
Starting with a whole bunch of forms we thought about adding! From assassins and barbarians to skeletons and plants! Though as you’ll probably notice, the Horse was always going to make it into the game.

For a while, we were even experimenting with the idea of each form having different evolutions. Some of these even made it into early versions of the game!

Making new locations and dungeons meant making a whole bunch of new tilesets and decorations which sometimes took a long time to do, so we had to get very strategic with what we decided to spend time on. Some of these concepts ended up inspiring what went into the ‘Frozen Hearth’ content.

And let’s not ignore the incredibly ambitious early renditions of the world map with DOZENS of different locations.

We wanted to make the enemies as cartoonishly icky as possible, and our incredible artists seemed to have a lot of fun coming up with all sorts of gruesome enemies. Admittedly, some of them look kinda cute (if you tilt your head and squint your eyes and imagine something cute).

The Calamity didn’t have a form for a long time, but we always knew it would be some kind of unimaginable eldritch horror. Not sure if any of us were prepared for what we saw when the time came to finally start penning the Calamity’s form. Just straight nightmare fuel.

And lastly, check out a few of the concepts we made for our two biggest updates to the game, “The Frozen Hearth” and “The Impossible Dungeon”. Did you know that Jimmy Luna was almost Jimmy Trash Panda?
