Two-years ago Moss transported players to a fantastical world and set them on an epic journey that turned into something more than they could have ever imagined. Along with immersing themselves in a captivating environment, a little mouse named Quill quickly captured their hearts, by not only becoming the mascot for VR, but becoming so much more … a friend, a companion.
Prior to launch, Quill introduced herself to tens of millions during the Sony PlayStation 2017 E3 press conference, raising the questions, what’s that game with the mouse? And why VR? Questions easily answered come the following February when Moss released to much acclaim on PSVR, and later Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows MR. And then as a launch title for Valve Index and Oculus Quest platforms.
When players time with Quill just wasn’t enough, we released an update to Moss, introducing players to Twilight Garden, bringing more than an hour worth of additional content that gives players a glimpse into the Sprite world rich with new challenges, combat and meaningful interactions for Quill and the player.
It’s not enough to simply say the bond formed between Quill and the player marked a significant discovery in the gaming space, that making meaningful connections with a character inside a game is possible. It’s more than that. Something magical happens when players meet, interact with and help Quill during their time together. They begin talking to her, caring for her, and empathizing with her as she experiences a range of emotions. She becomes real.
Now, with 80+ global industry awards and nominations and ranked as one of the top games across all platforms, Moss (and Quill) prove that an action adventure game set in both the first- and third-person perspective does work in VR. In fact, it not only works, it thrives.
While the game expanded with Twilight Garden and players relationships with Quill blossomed, Polyarc as a company grew as well. Now five years old, we’re 28 developers strong and continue to build upon the Moss franchise. We’ve even started a new project. More on that later. We’ve moved offices twice to give ourselves a little more space each time. Our regular office dog count has increased to five. And we’re growing the Polyarc family with two babies on the way.
But, all of this wouldn’t be possible without the ongoing support we get from our beloved community. The fan art. The social media posts. The conversations at industry events. It’s what inspires us every day. To celebrate, we're hosting a limited-time 2nd Anniversary 34% OFF promotion for Moss. ENJOY!
