Local Multiplayer, Co-Op, and Graphics
FREE DEMO STILL AVAILABLE
Steam Next Fest has come and gone, and there were more than 350 platformers featured in this edition of the Next Fest and more than 3000 games in total. Unfair Rampage: Knightfall is a new game without a historic build-up so the whole event passed below the radar. My goal was/is to release the game in November or December, but it is crucial to build up awareness before the release and while I promote the game I have time to add some more features. The demo is still available for download and I encourage everyone to download and play it! To promote the game and make a release possible I will be reaching out to content creators, review sites, and indie-related communities, If you want to help speed up the release, please help spread the word (here is a press-kit)
NEW BRIDGES
This is not yet released to the beta or the demo, but all bridges in the game are now unique. This is a new stone bridge that splits the water and while I was at it, I modelled a little stone hut next to the bridge and it paved the way for more graphical updates. I also created a suspension bridge and expanding on the idea of the little hut, I made a larger building with a water wheel. In the game, it will be viewed head-on, but for a scenic view, this looks a bit cozier. This is the beauty of making a 2.5D game, different camera angles can be used for menu screens and replays =) This is the simplest-looking bridge, but it also has suspension physics so I can't help but melee attacking enemies onto it. Technically, adding the suspension bridge was a bit complicated because ragdoll corpses on the bridge could easily make it glitch out, but I've found a stable solution now for your enjoyment! It should be a fun way to do co-op and see how far you get together, or maybe compete and see who can get the highest score between you. Adding local multiplayer also opens the door and lowers the bar to add networked multiplayer if there is enough interest for that! The camera frames all players now and I don't see any issues adding local multiplayer except quite a large workload to get multiple controllers, UI, and the gameplay adjusted - but it's going great!
