Introducing: Heroes of Dune

Dune: Spice Wars

A 4X real-time strategy game from the developers of the critically acclaimed Northgard. Set in Frank Herbert’s groundbreaking Dune universe, you must lead your faction and battle for control and dominance over the harsh desert planet of Arrakis.
Heroes
The main purpose of Heroes of Dune is to introduce even more of the Dune universe into the game. We already had a healthy amount of Dune characters in the game (31 characters in total), but they were only present in interfaces. Heroes of Dune will bring some of them in flesh onto the map, alongside your military units. Prominent figures of the Dune universe like Duncan Idaho and Glossu Rabban will be playable units in every game mode, and will have a tremendous impact on the battlefield. The heroes are:

Duncan Idaho and Gurney Halleck for House Atreides
Glossu Rabban and Iakin Nefud for House Harkonnen
Drisq and Bannerjee for The Smugglers
Chani Kynes and Otheym for The Fremen
Aramsham and Wensicia Corrino for House Corrino
Ilesa Ecaz and Whitmore Bludd for House Ecaz
All heroes have been redesigned compared to the version currently in conquest. They are designed to have a significant impact on the military orientation of the faction. They all have a global effect, several more localized effects, and an active skill. They are more complex units than the other units in the game.
Councillors
All heroes were previously councillors. Heroes and councillors are now distinct entities, which means that each faction has "lost" two councillors. To compensate, we will add two councillors to each faction (for a total of 50 named characters from the Dune universe in the game, including the DLC House Vernius of Ix).
Direct military micro-management towards positioning at the moment of engagement rather than micro-control of units during combat.
Make gear more fun and unique.
Slightly simplify combat onboarding with simpler basic unit traits.
As always, let us know what you think of the upcoming content!
