Hello again, operatives!
Today we have some grave news.
We are disbanding the studio.
We’ve been fighting a hard battle for quite some time, but as of today we lost. And here is why.
Our studio began as a group of several enthusiasts, people dreaming and striving to create something new and exciting. We could never compare in budget with AAA-studios, but didn’t try to win any pity points and worked as hard as we could.
For the last year we’ve been working without breaks, leaves and sometimes even on weekends.
The Burst’s concept was extremely ambitious, almost unfeasible for a small indie-studio. At least we tried to bring it to life.
The most frequently asked questions we received were “Why didn’t you postpone the release?” or “Why didn’t you go for the early access?”
We didn’t have a choice. At all. It wasn’t a question of having an opportunity to shoot for it - we lacked resources to even attempt such a thing. We would do things differently if we could.
Needless to say that right before the release date we were basically threatened by another studio which only added to already existing problems.
We’ve been working for months after the release to fix all the technical issues that the game had.
We’ve mostly succeeded in our work, however, nothing can fix the first impression, and ours wasn’t the greatest.
That’s fair. We pay for our mistakes.
We apologize for letting down all those people who supported us and rooted for us.
What happens next:
As we’ve mentioned already, the studio is disbanded. We have nothing to pay our employees with and we can’t just force them to stay.
We have reserved 2 additional game modes just as we planned, but since we’ve spent quite a lot of time polishing the game, we didn’t manage to finish them. We can’t afford showing you something unstable and unpolished.
Those founding fathers, enthusiasts who created the studio two years ago, will keep on maintaining The Burst and improving it. However, as you might‘ve expected, it will take more time and effort, leaving us unable to set any deadlines.
TLDR:
We tried to make our dream come true, but alas, fucked up.
We are grateful to all those who supported us on this journey: our families, friends, and, of course, YOU, our lovely community. We wouldn’t have got this far without you!
Dream big and play great games!
Love you all,
GoRapid.
