[u]Financial penalties[/u] Releasing a player that still has guaranteed money remaining on their contract will result in dead cap space. This means that you will continue to carry a portion of their salary against your team's salary cap, even though they are no longer on your roster. [b]Introducing Enhanced Draft Rankings[/b] In our relentless pursuit of authenticity and realism, we've completely overhauled the scouting system for draft prospects. It was previously....errr....lacking. The new Draft Rankings screen offers you the ability to review the national rankings for the next draft class. Shortly before each draft, prospects will show off their athletic and mental capabilities through a series of drills and tests. The results of these tests are critical in making an informed decision when selecting players for your team. [list] [*] Gain access to key physical measurements and performance metrics that help evaluate the prospects' athletic prowess. [*] Uncover the raw speed of the prospects and assess their explosiveness and acceleration on the field. [*] Evaluate the prospects' upper body strength and endurance, factors that are crucial in many positions on the football field. [*] Gauge the prospects' leaping ability, a critical attribute for wide receivers, defensive backs, and other positions that require exceptional agility and ball skills. [*] Evaluate the mental makeup of a player by reviewing their Wonderlic test score, and their psychological exam results. There is more to being a good player than just physical tools, the right mental attributes are needed to succeed. Discover which players have shown the most progress since last year. Find out which players might be on the hot seat, and have regressed since last year. Keep tabs on your young studs to ensure they are progressing how they should be. Keep an eye on how your veterans are holding up, and whether it might be time to move on from them. The old design for this screen simply wasn't good enough, and it was important to improve it. Real-world data was used to tweak the numbers, and we are pleased with the level of realistic results now. Lineman are huge, and punters are small. The results line up with the real world much better now. [*] We improved how the football simulation engine was handling physical rating attributes. The physical traits of a player (strength, speed, acceleration, etc.) now have more impact than ever. A player's physical traits are now just as important as their technical skills. [*] The logic for selecting players and coaches into the Hall of Fame was adjusted to account for more variables. There were inductees being put into the Hall of Fame that were not deserving, and we needed to plug some gaps in the process. [*] The logic for assigning ratings to coaches has been overhauled to provide more varied and realistic results. [*] The simulation engine for pass plays has been overhauled to account for many more variables. The height of receivers and defenders is now factored in. The ability of receivers to adjust to bad throws is now accounted for. Some quarterbacks are better at long throws, some better at short throws, this is now accounted for in a meaningful way. Pass defenders now have multiple factors accounted for when trying for an interception. Simply put, the depth and realism of the passing game is now more accurate than ever! [*] There were many other bugs, flubs, blips, and bloops that were resolved. We've been hard at work polishing the game and fixing minor quality-of-life issues.
