Greetings Ectypes!
Highlights from our Dev Stream #11 are up!
We launched Patch 7, which is the combined update number 12 to Void Crew since launching in Early Access. We’ve added a lot of things that’ll complement Update 4, where we introduced Roguelite and class perks.
In these highlights, we're answering questions from the community, so watch if you're curious about the latest news (or scroll down for a written summary!)
Community Questions Answered

Black screen bug
[This issue has since been fixed in a hotfix (Patch 8)]
We’ve resolved the issue that was caused the screen to go black for some players when entering the hub. In the video we mention the workaround for players that might have encountered the bug.
Any word on class perks for the next update?
We wanted to let the perks mature for a bit, and revisit it when we have a better perspective of what needs to be added or changed. This means we are not working on perks for the next update, but we are working on other things, which will be much more interesting.
Are there any new ideas for more ship variants?
For ship variants, there’s no new ship variants in the next update, but we would like to eventually add things like a banana shaped ship or a donut shaped ship, and ships that work differently from the current ones.
Now there is a Shuriken Carronade instead of a Benediction Cannon on the solo loadout, how come this was changed?
We had added shielded elites to some of the early objectives when you're playing solo. This has since been rectified, so you won’t see shielded enemies until you’re ready to fight them, even when playing solo. The issue was simply that the solo loadout struggled against shielded enemies, because Benediction Cannons are Kinetic only. Now with the addition of an energy weapon, you can just turn on Cruise Mode and run to your energy weapon and help the brain cannon so you can co-op with the brain buddy.
Are the METEM script runes translatable?
We’re pretty sure they're not, but they're also absolutely ancient in terms of the game's development history. Maybe the Ancients are able to translate them?
What’s the news on Wreck Debris?
We’ve been working on our debris tech, so there won’t be things blocking the ship. In the next update, we will be putting even more stuff into the void. There'll be more debris, but none of it will block you. You’ll be able to destroy debris by flying into it or shooting it.
The debris performance has also been improved, so it won’t impact performance, even if there’s hundreds of pieces floating around you in space.
What’s the latest in regards to the idea of saving progress in Endless?
It's very much a Quality of Life thing that we’d like to provide to the players, but we first need to get Endless to the point where we (and the players) are really happy with it. We have engineered the Endless mode to actually be able to (theoretically at least) support players jumping back in and picking up where you left off, there’s just a lot of other things we need to implement first. So, not on the roadmap yet, but something we’ve got in mind.
We hope you like what's coming to Void Crew! Let us know in a comment if you have more questions regarding this patch!
And, as always...
Metem preserve you!
