Maze slaughter is a fast paced, rogue-lite first person shooter in a maze with piling bodies. It's like running man, in an american gladiator arena setting. Loud, gory and funny.
[b]Hello, fellow shooter lover![/b]
I am proud to announce the beginning of a news series which will essentially be our development diary.
Occasionally I will post info bits about the game and give insight into our endeavor of developing Maze Slaughter!
In this very first posting I'll introduce you to our universe and give you the short version pitch.
In later Dev Diaries I will dive deeper into the single aspects of the game.
[b]Maze Slaughter[/b] is a fast paced, rogue lite first person shooter set in an alien gladiatorial TV game show.

[b]Your first Hero[/b]
You play Dan Jerouz, a butcher from New York who got abducted in his yard while having a BBQ.

Now he is forced to be a contestant in an alien TV show named: "Maze Slaughter".. seems that aliens are speaking english... :D

The aliens themselves are tiny creatures with squeaky voices who are [b]cloning gigantic monsters[/b] who fight for them in the arena..

Maze Slaughter is like "Running Man" in an "American Gladiator" arena setting. Super loud and super gory but doesn't take itself too seriously!
[b]Stages[/b]
The player has to survive a fixed number of stages with unique objectives per stage and [b]randomly generated mazes[/b] (More about objectives in a later episode of the dev diaries.)

A stage can be played indefinitely even when the player cleared the objective and the exit is open, but they get super dangerous by the time. However if you are brave you can try and stay to farm the high value enemies which carry extra cash and buffs.

However you will always need to utilize one of our special mechanics:
[b]Corpse piling[/b].

All corpses are persistent and can form up climbable mountains. We need to utilize these corpse mountains to reach new weapons or objectives or sometimes the body piles are the objective themselves.

We invented a mechanic that can handle such high numbers of persistent enemies and as far as we know, are we the only game on this planet that utilizes corpse piles as a gameplay element.
You witness the birth of a literal Unique Selling Point! :)

[b]Rogue-Lite[/b]
The player has to survive all that plus 2 boss stages with exactly one life.
So of course we will die often, just like it’s common for rogue-likes. However we offer player progression farm credits, buy permanent stuff become a better hero.
So we are more a rogue lite than a rogue like..

[b]Coop, Twitch Mode and Modkit[/b]
besides our obvious USP’s like the body piling and the game show setting, we plan for more features that will be explained in detail in a next Dev Diary.
