Critadel - Weapons, Attachments & Items

Critadel

Critadel is a futuristic platform/shooter/roguelike with three playable characters, hundreds of branching paths and over 100,000 unique weapon configurations!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first of our weekly Critadel posts! Today we'd like to introduce you to some of the various items in Critadel. There are three different kinds: weapons, attachments and artifacts. Let's take a closer look and see how they work. In Critadel, there are number of different weapons to discover. Each weapon has a letter rank, either B, A or S. As you may have guessed, S-rank weapons will be better than weapons in the A group, and A is better than B. Each weapon is also very unique, and we're certain that you'll have a lot of fun playing around with them. Here are some examples of the weapons you will find in the game. In addition to the rank, each weapon description includes a type such as "Normal," "Rifle," "Burn," etc. The weapon type tells you how the weapon functions. Does the description indicate that your weapon is a "Rifle" type? Then you can go full-auto by holding the Fire button down. Is your weapon an "Explosive" type? If so, its projectiles will go "Ka-boom"! How about "Burn" type? That means your weapon's projectiles will ignite enemies and burn them alive. It's kind of like the "elemental" powers that you usually see in fantasy games. Interestingly enough, when you carry a certain number of weapons with the same type in your inventory, you will get special "Synergy" effects from them. We'll explain Synergies later, in another weekly post. With numerous different weapons in the game, there are plenty of different ways to attack your enemies. But on top of that, you can also upgrade and/or modify your weapons with 50 different attachments! Some of the attachments have simple effects, like "Increased damage"... but there are also more advanced attachments, like "Add a special snowball projectile that will freeze enemies and also add Freeze type to the weapon"! So you should always consider adding attachments to make sure your weapons can reach their full potential. There is a catch, though! You can add only two attachments to the same weapon, and if you ever want to detach one of them for any reason, you'll have to pay a small fee. Lastly, we have special items called "artifacts." Artifacts will give your character or your weapons certain enhancements. Some will add functionality to your weapons beyond what the attachments can do, while others directly enhance your character's abilities. Equipping an artifact might give a boost to your weapons’ magazine sizes, or even give your character the ability to shoot through barricades! Something to note about artifacts is that you cannot unequip them once you have obtained them. Their effects will remain active until the end of your current run. This also applies to debuff artifacts (yes, there are artifacts with negative effects!), so you'll have to think carefully before you pick them up. There's so much more to say, but that should be it for this post. Look for more information in the coming weeks. In the next post, we'll talk about Synergy effects that will make your adventure to the top of Babel more interesting and fun....
