Cookard is a cooking game where you run a restaurant by stacking cards to prepare and serve dishes to customers.
Hey, the promised Beta Branch is here. It's version 1.1.0 and you could try it now by changing the branch into beta branch. For now, it only works on Windows.
To change to beta branch, just right click Cookard on your library, then go to Properties

Then go to Betas section, and in Beta Participation, change None to beta.

If you want to change back to main branch, just do the same but change it to None.
Several warning though, the save file won't be compatible between beta branch and the main branch, so you need to reset your save file before starting the other branch.
If you would like, you could backup your save file, for each OS, here is the path:
Windows: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Cookard\save_data.sav
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Cookard/save_data.sav
Linux: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Cookard/save_data.sav
Now here is some changes from the main branch:
Rebalanced Quest and Progression
Some players complained that when it unlocks recipe, it gives so many recipes all at once, and overwhelmed by it.
We have balanced it so that the recipes are more spread out, and it means you need complete more popularity to unlock it.
The game will be longer around 30%, because in the main branch, the game will finish when you serve around 100 customers, and in the beta branch you need to serve around 130 customers.
Some recipes, should be bought first with coin, and some need certain amount of click to unlock it.
It will be more a little bit challenging, and now the coin has some other usage than buying packs.
Chest Card
This is pretty much number one request from players. So now you could unlock Chest in later stage. After it stores the first card, it will store another card with the same type.
Chest Card need to be on the first card on the stack to store card. You could click the card to retrieve its content or use magnet to draw the card from the inside.
We hope, with this addition, your kitchen is more manageable.
Worker could stop Customer from Coming!
Another thing that players requested is the ability to stop Customer from coming. They need something like pause, but need all the machine working.
Now you could put your Worker on the Queue Card, and it will act as Bouncer. It will stop the future Customer from coming. But beware that the Worker still needs to eat, if not they will leave and decrease your popularity!
Now you could automate Food with Magnet!
In the main branch, the Magnet behaviour is taking as much as ingredient that is on its range.
So if you only need one Dough and one Honey to make Bagel, the Magnet will take as much as possible Dough and Honey, and your Oven won't work.
Now you could setup your Magnet to only take one Dough and one Honey only and stop taking when it already has that much.
Now the Magnet could take multiple stuff all at once, just put the required ingredient in the Inductor.
But if you want the Magnet behave like it's used to, which is taking as much as possible, then you could stack Unlimited Card with Inductor Card, then it will make the Magnet taking as much as possible.
Automate Opening Pack and Delivering Food to Customers
To automate all the kitchen, you need a way to open the pack automatically, now the pack need to be opened manually. That's why there will be a new Click Farm Card. You could put Worker there to work as Clicker, and it will spawn Cursor Click and it will click Card that need to be clicked, like opening pack, or other stuff.
Actually you could use multiple of Click Farm with Water Pump to generate Water faster. But a little bit warning, it won't be cost effective than the Tap. Because it's less efficient, means the Worker will hungry faster for the same amount of Water generated.

The last piece of puzzle of full automation is delivering food for the Customer. There will be Waiter Station, where you could put Worker there to be Waiter. And it will deliver Card on its stack to whoever Customer or Worker that need that food.
More Egg Based Recipe!
Many players complained that they have too much Egg. Now we balanced it out with new recipe. There will be Meringue, where you need to Whisk the Egg into Foam, and bake it into Oven. And also Pavlova, where you combine Meringue, Strawberry, Blueberry, and Orange on Stove.

And also, for the late game challenge, we pop up another tool which is Blender, where you could make Strawberry Juice, Blueberry Juice, and Orange Juice where each recipe need two corresponding Fruits. I hope it will be challenging. I hope you don't scream when you have tons of leftovers Blueberry and Orange, but the Customer asks for Strawberry Juice.
Ant will steal your Food!
As designer, I love to add challenge into the game. And for this branch we introduce some enemy. It's not hard, but it's a little bit annoying. In the later stage, the game will start to spawn some Ant Nest, and this Ant Nest will constantly spawning Ant. This Ant will try to steal your food, but don't worry, it's pretty easy to exterminate it, just click the Ant, and poof it's gone.
You might wonder if there's any way to automate clicking those ants... wait you have Click Farm right? :3
You could try to exterminate the Ant Nest itself by placing Worker there as Exterminator, it will consume the energy of the Worker and certainly they will ask food more regularly.
Some UI/UX fix and Quality of Life
We add pattern to the background, in hope that it's more intuitive that you could place the card outside the main board, because some players fail to notice this.
And also there's several request to be able to hide the info panel and keyboard help on the bottom, because it gets in the way, and we have added it :D.
Another thing is, now you could hover to any progress bar to see how much the progress is. And also there's more information on the card now, so you could now the status of the card.
And lastly, for the recipe that only has one way to produce, we just put the recipe when you click the corresponding card, it's just easier that way.
And that's it!
Thank you for supporting and playing this game! We really need your feedback about this change. We could not update for more feature or stuff, but we will still try to update to bug fix, improve the QoL, and rebalance the game. It's because our team will shift our focus to our other game, The Chef's Shift, we intent to finish it because we already got ourselves a publisher for that game :D.
Please support The Chef's Shift by wishlisting it! Thanks :D.
