The year is 3620. As the world succumbs to the Creeping Frost, the remnants of humanity take refuge on Dura, the only habitable remnant of the dying earth. Each of humanity’s five factions sifts through the rusted carcass of the Old World, searching for the secret that will reverse the destruction. Divided by ideology and belief, these factions sometimes seek common ground, but fragile alliances are easily shattered. Meanwhile, extinction looms. Time is running short.

Take control of Ambrose, a criminal investigator and a Cerebroid – a race known for their mechanical minds and artificial personalities. While a devastating war rages against the background of the apocalypse, Ambrose ventures to a military camp to seek out an unstoppable killer. What begins as just another job threatens to become something far larger as Ambrose discovers a secret that could save humanity – or hasten its destruction.

MINDFLUX is a third-person roleplaying game in which your ability to see beyond lies, hidden agendas, and dire secrets are pivotal to solving heinous crimes. As a creature with a heavily modified brain, you can change your own personality at will, strategically adapting to the vulnerabilities and desires of those around you. This is not a world inhabited by dimensional quest givers. Each person is a complex, living entity with their own goals and agendas. Solving crimes and unlocking secrets depend on your attending to details and ability to adapt.

The Rusted Future has eroded RNG. Each decision you make will be done without any dice roll.

Instead, the effectiveness of each decision is based on the personality of the characters you encounter. A merchant might be leery of authority and react poorly to bureaucratic talk, while a guard might be weak of mind and is easily manipulated with mentalist trickery. You must discover who they are and determine the best way to break through their defenses. Trial and error can be dangerous – saying the wrong thing to the wrong person can lead to unforeseen consequences. Only by preparing and observing can you hope to succeed.

With a strategic brain augmentation loadout, you will be able to see inclinations and preferences – perhaps unknown to the NPC itself – that can make the difference in uncovering a lie or obtaining a clue. Shifts in tone, posture, and emotion represent critical information that you can weaponize against your enemies.

More guarded characters might be careful not to reveal their weaknesses. Fortunately, your cybernetic enhancements allow you to scan your environments for clues that would otherwise remain hidden – provided you’ve loaded the brain mod that will allow you to understand what you’ve detected. Pay attention or you could make a critical mistake.

Mindflux: Dead Man Walking automatically collects your observations in a detailed journal, allowing you to exert your will confidently on the denizens of Dura. Every choice matters and can lead to vastly different outcomes, rewarding multiple playthroughs. Characters can live or die. Some will fall or rise to power. You can betray or be betrayed, save or be saved, kill or be killed. Anything is possible. You have advantages, however, the biggest being your ability to predict possible futures. Using S.A.V.E. machines spread throughout the world, experience outcomes of decisions from the safety of your mind. Recall back to the machine when things don't go your way.

In MINDFLUX, you will:

• Have the tools to deduce the personalities of NPCs. Determine the best strategies to get the outcomes you desire.
• Adjust your brain to conform to what you perceive to be the social weaknesses of the people you encounter. Increase or decrease the effectiveness of these skills with ease. Install hardware packages to instantly learn vast amounts of information on a particular subject. Obtain more power through making discoveries, exploration, and informed dialogue choices.
• Observe and document humanoid reactions to what you say and do during a conversation based on your brain's power distribution. Easily witness emotional shifts while they happen via a highly detailed talking head. Use this information to inform future dialogue decisions.
• Scan environments with your cybernetic eyes to locate important objects. Utilize your installed hardware packages to uncover key information that can change the course of your investigation.
• Using your discoveries, proceed to empathize, manipulate, convince, excite, anger, confuse, depress, or elate characters to your own ends, or perhaps unwittingly their own.
