Roses and Gems

Roses and Gems is a difficult sandbox platformer all about avoiding the inevitable, Death. Build constructs, traps and fight to keep the ancient machine safe. In the end, your home will be destroyed, and you'll die, but it just means you get to start a new dem... Adventure all over again!

This update mostly contains fixes and balance changes, some graphics have been updated/redone so the game looks nicer. Additions: - A new 'type' of climbable block has been added, it works like a regular ladder, but you slide down if you don't hold up. Rope and Webs have been changed to this. - Guards and Merchants will now indicate when they are going to a flag or market. - Spikes now have their own break animation so they don't look bad/glitchy. - Misc. Changes: - Nerfed spikes again. Wood is now properly trash tier. - Changed the harder difficulties ("I wanna die" and higher) so they don't get the first day double time bonus. - Changed all difficulties above "Hard" to receive double enemies. The scaling was rather off and it felt like there weren't as many enemies as there should be. - Ant's throw dirt a lot less now, as before they were kinda tearing up the land. However, dirt balls now replace the block they hit with dirt, rather than slightly damage it. - FireAnt's Acid throw no longer damages dirt because it destroys the world too quickly. - Baby spiders have regen now so they're more likely to live to adulthood. - Changed emotes so that they work/look better. - Sprinting no longer works on grass, certain materials allow you to walk/sprint faster on them. - Bugs now get a movement speed bonus from grass. These 2 changes should incentivise paving, rather than keeping the nice green carpet. - Change the darkness to be less debilitating, it was originally added for aesthetics, not to make you feel blind. - Spikes now deal damage based falling speed as well as spike quality now, so digging deeper pits actually does something. Fixes: - Fixed a bug where day/night time was double the length it was meant to be. - Optimized block fringes. - Fixed a bug causing enemies to permanently have 50% hp, no matter the difficulty. - Fixed bats picking up and dropping bugs.
