The Great Exhibition of 1851 in VR

Use your SteamVR system to visit the 1851 Great Exhibition in London's Hyde Park

A few fixes & enhancements reacting to some early review comments, plus several corrections, improvements & additions: Bug Fixes • Narration for John Deed Leather skin now works. • Narration & video systems now interact with each other (starting one stops other). • Non-VR mode now always has focus on start up. • Non-VR mode when moving fast can no longer break through gallery railing. Corrections • Adjust position of Great Hydraulic Press, Nasmyth Steam Hammer and some flags & illustrations. • Adjust partitions to better match illustrations (including removal of excess partitions from Machinery in Motion sections). • Swap locations of The Unhappy Child and The Infant Moses (Belgium section, middle of East nave) • Signs above refreshment room doors now match illustrations. Improvements • Operating narration trigger when not pointing at a narration target stops any in progress narration. • Make grey glass less transparent. • Improve gallery canvas ceiling model • Improve floorboard texture • Several photographs and watercolours replaced with better quality versions. • Murmur sound loop inside building is longer & quieter • Wording of some statue labels & narrations improved • Improve & simplify the Queen Victoria / Thorneycroft model (North transept) • Zinc statue of Queen Victoria narration now additionally refers to statue moving to cattle yard. Additions • Cornelius & Co. stand & chandeliers (United States section) • Prussia flag on South side of nave (Zollverein section). • Multiple illustrations (photographs and engravings) added. • Two more Swiss flags. • Arethusa by Frederick Thrupp (British Sculpture Court) • Eve After the Fall by Monti (Austrian Sculpture Court) • Stewart’s cast iron pipes (Machinery at Rest Court, North of Western nave) • Gallery “to the staircases” sign now duplicated on all 10 staircases (and wording now appears on both sides). • Various cabinets & stands at gallery level, including: India Rubber & Gutta Percha stand (North West); Switzerland & France (South, East of transept). • Various cabinets & stands at ground floor level, including: Hancock stuffed birds stand (North transept); Spain & Portugal (North nave, East of transept); Austrian Leistler Rooms & Russia Court (North of Eastern nave) • Leistler bookcase • Banners: surgical instruments (North West gallery)
