[Genre Selection] During the development of PIGROMANCE, we spent a lot of time contemplating what kind of music would best suit the game. We needed music that could capture a classic feel, make the pantomime-style presentation more dramatic, and match the hand-crafted artwork that gives off an analog vibe. (I know, that’s asking for a lot…) We gathered numerous references, and among those that made it to the final list, we selected ‘Tom and Jerry’ and ‘Modern Times’. Both ‘Tom and Jerry’ and ‘Modern Times’ are composed with orchestral-style music (though I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct term). Since PIGROMANCE was heavily influenced by these works, we wanted to pay homage by using music from the same genre. (Incidentally, ‘Tom and Jerry’ and ‘Modern Times’ also provided a lot of inspiration for structuring PIGROMANCE.) Another reason we leaned towards orchestral-style music is that the sounds from wind instruments, string instruments, percussion, etc., which come from the vibration of physical objects, sound natural and not artificial. These sounds convey a warmth that feels genuine. These reasons led us to decide on the genre of the music. [Composition of the Tracks] When composing the tracks, we considered several factors. One of them was to express three to five emotions within a single track—emotions like joy, fear, and liberation. We aimed to capture the emotions that characters experience in various situations throughout the story. This method of composition added a sense of life to the tracks by creating a dynamic flow. [Resource Utilization] The music we usually listen to is structured like a film score. However, since we needed to use the music as a game resource, we required a unique structure for the music. No matter where the player moves, the music we intended needed to be played. Therefore, we structured the music as follows: We composed the music by dividing it into start, loop, and end segments within each measure, allowing it to be used flexibly in the game. This start, loop, end structure helps the music transition smoothly as the player progresses through the game. For example, the start is used when a specific event or situation begins, setting the mood. The loop repeats a measure while the player remains in a certain area, maintaining a seamless flow. And when the player moves on to the next stage, the end naturally wraps up the music, preventing any jarring breaks in continuity. Thanks to this structured approach, the music transitions smoothly without interruption, keeping the player fully immersed. Moreover, when these measures are stitched together, they connect naturally into a complete track that can be enjoyed independently. The PIGROMANCE Soundtrack, created this way, consists of 10 main tracks and 2 additional tracks, each reflecting the themes of the characters and stages. Here is a list of the 12 tracks from the PIGROMANCE Soundtrack with brief descriptions (excluding any content that could be considered a spoiler): [olist] [*]Black Identity [*]The Sorrows of Young Pig [*]Welcome to the Sausage Factory [*]Where Am I and Who Am I [*]Working Times [*]Flight of Black Birds [*]Under the Green Sea [*]Birth Factory [*]Cradle of Cuttingman [*]Resurrection of Pork [*]Last Parts [*]Pinale [/olist] The PIGROMANCE Soundtrack, crafted with such care, will harmonize with the atmosphere of the game and deliver a deeply moving experience to all players. - PIGROMANCE Soundtrack Store: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1664480/PIGROMANCE/
