๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings, mighty Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Any ruler who wants to go down in history ๐Ÿ“š should get acquainted with the "Ruler's Manual" series! Why - you ask? Well, in the following entries we tell you about how to make your Polis wealthy, safe, and as prosperous as possible. And believe us, it's not as easy as it may seem!

...and talk to the community and developers about the game!
Since the dawn of time, social groups, clans, or tribes attacked their neighbors in order to grab their resources, land, or treasures. The situation is no different in the case of your Polis - you can be sure that sooner or later foreign forces will want to take some of your wealth for themselves โœŠ Of course you, a competent ruler, cannot allow that to happen! Today you will learn how to defend your city and its inhabitants and how to prepare a loyal army of brave soldiers. Here we go!
The invaders are on the horizon

You can be sure that the enemy rulers are watching the development of your Polis with envy and great interest. At some point, they will decide that your influence or wealth should be limited and will send their troops to your territory ๐Ÿ’ฐ And that never bodes well... The enemy attack can be carried out both from land and sea, so you always have to be on your guard. Left alone, the invaders can quickly spread across your city and do a lot of damage - and this is something you can't let happen! Repairing the harm they did can be very time-consuming and costly, not to mention a hostile attack can trigger a wave of famine or emigration ๐Ÿ’ฅ On the other hand, successfully repelling attacks can guarantee your city relative peace and undisturbed development. So how do you protect your loyal subjects from looting and violence? You will need an army!
Building an army

When your settlement transforms from a small village into a more and more advanced town, it's time to consider rising your own army. The most important element at this stage will be people, as in order to form your first squad you will need recruits ๐Ÿ“ The good thing is that all adult inhabitants of your Polis can become such recruits and find their way to the barracks. Of course, the bigger your city's population, the better - strength often lies in numbers! The next stage of creating units is to provide your warriors with appropriate equipment. Depending on whether you choose light infantry units, ranged units, or powerful, heavily armored elite units, the cost of equipping them will be different. Remember to find a balance between your spending on building an army and the budget for developing the city - both of these elements should complement each other. Once you manage to pay for the equipment of your warriors, it's time to train them. In this case, the principle is similar - the more advanced the type of unit, the longer it takes to train them.
Make your own strategic choices

While smaller settlements do not have much choice when it comes to the types of troops they can recruit, large, developed cities have full freedom here. It is worth noting that a more diverse range of troops at your command means not only more effective defense, but also the ability to match your current army to the state of your empire's economy. If you do well as a ruler, you will soon gain access to buildings such as Barracks, Archery Range ๐Ÿน, Walls, Gates, Watchtowers, War Machine Workshops, or Cavalry Stable! ๐Ÿด Having a strong army, however, is not only a privilege, but also an obligation. Make no mistake, your soldiers need to eat, have access to services, medicine, and so on, even in times of peace. Sometimes having too many warriors can overwhelm your economy and production capacity, on the other hand having a small army unable to cope with invaders is quite risky. Once again, key decisions regarding your empire are yours. Will you be able to build a strong, battle-seasoned army? Can you protect your subjects from enemy attacks? Will you be able to find a balance between strength and development? Well... time will tell! In the following parts of the series, we will return to you with descriptions of many other important mechanics and tips that will help you become the greatest ruler of all time!
