Hey there, In addition to the original post we now have four new FAQs from Arturo Monedero, the game's designer at Delirium Studios. What was the inspiration for the game? A writer expresses his emotions with books, a musician with songs. As a game designer, I want to express my concerns through video games. As I listened to vetusta morla’s second album I began to visualize scenes of an adventure game. I saw the verses and music of the songs had consistency and could gather together in one world. At first they were just loose screens, but we gradually started shaping and connecting everything together and making sense of all the parts. How did the collaboration with vetusta morla come about? We didn’t personally meet the rock band, we sent an email to them. At first they were surprised, but they are a team of very close people so they gave us the opportunity to explain the project to them. They wanted to make a collective work of art and decided to join us, composing the soundtrack of the game. It was such a great beginning! The soundtrack has also been published separately and has sold 7.000 copies. How did you go about creating the characters? Character development was complex, we had the world but we needed to tell a story. Alice had to do something in this wonderful world, so we began working with her feelings and fears. How does a child reacts in his or her dream? Alice was drawn in black and white facing colourful backgrounds, it was clever way to extract the real world. Alice is the only character who is alive and the rest is a dream. Giving personality to the animations and conveying the fragility took hundreds of hand drawings of not just Alice but all the other characters. The hand-drawn animation makes the game very personal. What is your favourite thing about the game? I love the game as a whole but if pushed I'd have to say my favourite is the maze puzzle. Mainly because of its extreme simplicity and the great message it conveys. But then I cannot leave out the connection between the images and music throughout the game. There are very few games in which the sound and visuals are connected as strongly as in "The Rivers of Alice" is. Now on with the original post...
