Diesel Legacy is a 2v2 fighting game where four players battle on the same stage at the same time. This unique twist on the traditional fighting game formula adds an entirely new layer of strategy where cooperation will become the key to success.
Thank you for helping us stress test Diesel Legacy in our latest playtest! We’ve been listening to everyone, and are proud to announce some upcoming additions and changes in the future.

There’s a ton of fancy stuff in the works, but here are some that you can look forward to:

Redesigned Lobby System

Redone Interactive Menu System

New “Traditional” Menu System

Gameplay Balance
For additional characters and stages, keep an eye out on our upcoming devblogs and socials to be the first to find out what we’ve got planned.
Lobby Behavior
Lobbies will be going through a complete redesign, ensuring that you can always find a match whenever you want.
Many users have reported the inconsistency in being able to instantly find a match. The reality of the matter is that while there were matches going on, you wouldn’t be able to queue up unless an additional 3 players filled up another match.
With our upcoming updates, players can expect to be able to see a list of open lobbies and potentially join a queue while spectating another match (if the host allows queuing). players will also be able to substitute players for CPUs to be able to start a match early.
Another upcoming feature is that players will also be able to play nearly every mode in the game, while simultaneously searching for an online match. Once the match is over, you’ll seamlessly transfer back to the previous mode you were in.
When a mode is currently looking for players to fill, a pop-up for that mode will show, indicating that matches should be immediately joinable.
In addition, a quick match option will be available– finding the first available match within the various game modes.
For example, players can play in story mode, pause the game and set to search for a casual match, then go back to playing. Once the game finds a match, it’ll pause the game if you want to accept the match. If you accept the match, you’ll play in it until you’re done, and the game will drop you off right at the point you left story mode.
Menu System
We’ve received a lot of great feedback regarding our interactive menu system:
New players had issues finding and understanding the features of the game.
There was a general request for a traditional menu system.
During the playtest, we released a new update that took the main gameplay out of the basement and put it right in front of where the player spawns.
In future updates, we will continue to organize options into more accessible formats. We will also include miniature descriptions of every menu option to help players understand what each option is capable of.
For example, we are considering consolidating all online options into a singular “online” choice that will spawn off into all the modes. Upon highlighting this option, a description will show that this choice includes Matchmaking, Lobby Meet-Up and more.
For those looking for different menu options, Diesel Legacy will include both the interactive Juice Bar and a traditional pick-and-choose menu, choosable at the title screen. This traditional menu option will allow players to immediately pick their desired modes.
More on the original interactive menu system, we are planning on doing more for a social experience, but more will come soon.
Disconnections
A few consistent cases of disconnecting were found during the playtest. The cause of these were either from desyncing or players intentionally quitting, causing the entire game to come to a halt.
While there was a playtest update that allowed the game to continue, there will be additional fixes for disconnects to ensure players will have a 1:1 experience from offline to online.
Gameplay Balance/Features
While the game was out for only a limited amount of time, we will be making slight changes to moves that are currently underutilized and slight changes to moves that lock down opponents in the prototype 2v2 three-lane landscape of the game.
We have been listening to feedback, and want to make sure characters will be able to shine even further in their own unique archetypes. Future content pieces may hint to what some of these changes will be.
Looking Ahead
The future of the Iron City is bright! We’re working with online FGC scenes to build the game that YOU want to play, however you want to play it. Casual, competitive– no matter who you are, we want you to love the game.
Our team will be providing occasional updates via a devblog that will highlight more of what you can look forward to.
