Last week we announced a new update coming to The Case of the Golden Idol - called Redux. Learn more about that announcement here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1677770/view/4677641741933164088
The update is available today for all current (and future) owners of The Case of the Golden Idol. You should be prompted to update the next time you launch the game, and choose either the classic or Redux version to launch. While this update features no new playable cases or scenarios, it introduces a number of new features that make it a smoother experience overall. We understand that some players may prefer the "classic" version free of these changes, which is why we are shipping this as an optional launch parameter for all players.
New UI & Hint System
Returning players should notice an overhaul to the UI, which should improve readability and navigation, especially at smaller resolutions. Additionally, there are now markers that indicate what objects can be interacted with, so no more guessing or using guides when you get stuck.
Steam Deck Support
Support for Steam Deck is now in beta. In addition to running smoother, the UI and text should now scale to appropriately fit the screen size. Once the review process completes, The Case of the Golden Idol will be listed as a Verified title on the store and in your library, a process we expect to take a few weeks.
For Nintendo Switch Owners - The new release of The Case of the Golden Idol: Complete Edition will need to be manually claimed on the Nintendo eShop, and is free for all current owners. This rerelease includes all of the above changes and addresses an infrequent issue that caused some players to lose all save progress.
Moving Forward
Today, we also announced that the sequel, The Rise of the Golden Idol, will be launching on all platforms on November 12, 2024. Check out the release date trailer here for a sneak peak at what's coming next.
