The Backworld Lives!

Hey gamers! Numor here! Just letting everybody know that The Backworld is ALIVE AND WELL! I have been working on the game extremely hard, and things have been going great! There should be regular updates from now on. :) General Updates I have signed with a publisher! The official announcement should be very soon, including some info on localization and porting. The game is well on its way, with me having built out the base of the entire map already (which I am now filling in with proper good content). We should be looking at a Q1 2026 release. What is this game again? For anyone who may have forgotten about this game or is curious about the direction it's going...here is a little summary. When I went into this project I wanted to make an exploration-focused horror RPG that takes place in The Backrooms with the mission statement of "you don't feel safe, even outside the turn-based combat screen." That has essentially manifested into me adding extra mechanics related to how you traverse and interact with the world/enemies when compared to other classic turn-based RPGs. You can sort of see the game as a combo between Undertale + Fear and Hunger + Yume Nikki. Here are a few mechanics in the game:

You can attack enemies before entering combat and sprint to move faster, but doing so causes enemies to detect you from further away.
Enemies have different behaviors when out of the combat screen. Such as spawning traps/projectiles that deal damage to your party or using their own melee attacks to initiate combat with you, dealing damage immediately after you've transitioned to the combat screen.
You'll have a dodge-roll which allows you to avoid these hazards.
You'll also unlock metroidvania-like abilities that help you explore the world or survive better. Such as stealth to avoid enemies or a hoverboard that allows you to go over gaps.
You don't get stronger from fighting enemies, you need to explore to find EXP and items that greatly impact combat.
The game is non-linear so you'll really need to look around these creepy areas while managing your resources. (but there is a clear goal)
That's just a few things going on in the game, I'll be going into more detail over time. Thanks for checking out this update! More will be coming, especially on my YouTube and other social media where I post videos.
