"Remote Play Together" is now supported. No game updates are required. With friends, You can also play multiplayer with people who don't have a Steam account via Steam Link. Please refer to the official Steam website for more information on Steam features. If you do not want to connect a controller with 1P when playing multiplayer, please change the controller settings from the Options menu. Please check the controller connection, enable/disable, and who is using the controller on this screen, e.g., when the controller is not available even during single-player play.
