Hey there, Omar here. It's usually Matt writing these Steam announcements, and he's done a bang-up job on all of them. So please give a virtual and probably metaphorical round of applause to the venerable Matt Cundy. Woo! We love you, Matt! But I figured this update ought to come directly from me. If you don't know, my name is Omar Samir, I'm the lead developer of Super Buff HD, and I grinded my dick and balls off to get this game out the door. I don't know if I can say that in an update post. Steam might just automatically censor it. Matt'll know. I don't. ANYWAY, this post should be going up on the 29th of September, celebrating both the release of a new update, and the 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE RELEASE OF SUPER BUFF HD. Easily one of the craziest times in my life, with some of the hardest and longest hours I've ever worked, regularly working multiple days at a time with only the shortest interruptions to eat or use the bathroom. And it all lead to that magic moment... The day of release. Clicking that button and showing the world my baby, the game I'd put so much of myself and so much of my soul into. I'm gonna cut the crap... It bombed like Hell. It bombed harder than if Diddy and Drake teamed up and decided THIS was the time to launch their career as a stand-up comedy duo. I've been contacted by the UN, informing me that the next global conflict will have to be titled World War 4, because Super Buff HD bombed so hard, not even real bombs could out-bomb it. And you know what? I'd do it again, in a heartbeat. Honestly? It was fun. It was DAMN fun, no matter how hard it was. It was good. It was enriching to my soul, in a way that no other work had ever felt. And the critical reception has been phenomenal. Doesn't matter how hard it bombed financially, the people who liked Buff really liked Buff. People were championing Buff like it was their friend and they were trying to set it up. Every once in a while, I randomly run into someone who's played the game, and they always have the nicest, most heartfelt things to say about it. Every now and then, I'll look up the game on Twitter or just Google and see people who really had a nice little time with it. And that lights up the whole week for me. And on that note; I have to thank Super Buff HD's small but passionate speedrunning community. These runs have absolutely blown me away, and I highly recommend checking them out:

TrenchNinja21
c00LKID69
BystanderTim_
zzrules21
Watching their runs has been so fulfilling and so damn fun. I've always loved speedruns, and Buff was definitely made with runners in mind, so watching runs of my game is a high I'll never get enough of. It's also AMAZING to me that 2 of the 4 top runners for the game have "21" in their usernames. I could honestly talk about the game and everything related to it for a thousand hours and never repeat myself, but this is Steam, and you've got games to play. So I'll cut it short. WHAT'S NEW in the anniversary update? Well... Not a lot, actually. But let's cover what's been added...

"Ingame Timer" option has been renamed to "Buff Stats", as it now displays the ingame level timer, your current movement speed, and adds a laser sight to the Assault Roll and Spudder weapons for more precise aiming at high speeds.
Added in-level graffiti featuring (poorly drawn) references to Minmo the cat from Silent Hill 3, Solid Snake in a cardboard box from the Tanker chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the Venture Industries logo before it got dissolved into Ventech in season 6 from the Venture Bros., the "NO LOAFING!" sign from Strong Bad's room from Homestarrunner, Tofu from the Tofu Survivor mode from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 2 Remake, and a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head right now.
And that's it. Told you it wasn't a lot.
If nothing else, I hope this makes someone laugh. I sure did. Thank you all for this past year, and the years leading up to it. You're all buff in my eyes. P.S. Matt could you populate this post with some pictures or gifs or whatever so it's not just a bland wall of text? I see an image on the right that says "Player Endorsements" that I haven't seen before in any of the previous posts. Let's see them endorsements, babyyy! P.P.S. Obviously leave the P.S. and P.P.S. in the final Steam post. Funnier that way.
