As you have probably already guessed, I am the developer of Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield. And in case you didn't know: The release is already tomorrow! It is my first game and a very stylized experience. And that is why I was very interested when SteelSeries offered me the possibility to extend the style beyond the screen with GameSense. What is GameSense? It is their program that illuminates their keyboards, mouses and headsets with LEDs. You all know this fancy high-class RGB illuminated peripherals? That is exactly what we are talking about here. Never Yield's game design gave me a very cool way to integrate GameSense into the game in a useful way. It's a great thing when the keyboard lights up a little colorful, but when it supports the gameplay, it's a whole other level. And if you've played the demo, you know that the movements in Never Yield are based on a color code. High objects and obstacles for example can be overcome only with a high jump, and those objects have a red outline. The game tells you which key to press via the colored outline. And that’s a perfect fit for RGB illuminated gaming peripherals! Taking a look on the keyboard, both WASD and the arrow keys are illuminated in the four movement colors Red, Blue, Yellow and Purple. That’s the basic support the keyboard offers. The rest of the RGB Illumination depends on what difficulty level you play Never Yield on. On the easy and medium difficulty levels, the entire keyboard flashes before the obstacle appears in the corresponding color of the key that needs to be pressed. On the third and hardest difficulty level, WASD and the arrow keys are still illuminated, but the entire keyboard does not light up anymore. Why not? Because for those players who play on the highest difficulty level, Never Yield should be a challenge! And I don't want to ruin that experienced for you of course. 😉 What was very important to me in implementing GameSense is that Never Yield doesn't lose its challenge and appeal. It definitely doesn't lose its appeal, because the illumination underlines the style of the game brilliantly well! And what about the challenge? The RGB illumination doesn't give you any advantage that you wouldn't have without GameSense. Never Yield also sneaks you the color of the next obstacle in your way ingame - you should keep an eye on the upper right corner of your monitor. And whether you play with GameSense included or not, always remember: Never Yield! Till tomorrow and take care everyone!
