Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster coming to consoles and PC in early 2024

STAR WARS™: Dark Forces Remaster

The evil Empire is currently creating a doomsday army behind a veil of secrecy. However, they are no match for the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division. Your mission is to infiltrate the Empire and put an end to their plans for terror and domination.

Nightdive Studios has announced a release date for Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster.

Announced earlier this year, and releasing in February, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster has been fully remastered through the studio's proprietary KEX engine, allowing the game to run on modern devices at up to 4K resolution at 120FPS. The remaster features upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for console gamepads with platform-specific features.

Originally developed and published by LucasArts, Dark Forces was released in 1995 for DOS and Mac and in 1996 for PlayStation as the first FPS for the series. In it, you take on the role of Kyle Katarn, a defector of the Galactic Empire turned mercenary for hire who joins the Rebel Alliance's covert operations division. Tasked with infiltrating the Galactic Empire, you discover the secret Dark Trooper Project that finds the Empire producing a series of Imperial battle droids and power-armored stormtroopers. It is up to you, Katarn, and the Rebel Alliance to intervene.
