Retro inspirations + updated demo!

Hello zombie hunters, We're participating in Boomstock 2024 with an updated demo! Boomstock is a celebration of all Boomer Shooters and kick-ass action games in general, all connected by their love for the good old days of gaming, shining through in the games’ artstyle, gameplay, or both. What new can you find in this demo?

New animations for the player character;
New skins for the zombies;
UI iteration (like energy booster is usable now);
Characters' names updated;
Boss encountered revisited to be more interesting and challenging;
Add a new particle effect to the Spit attack of Irons, the Chief of Police;
Replaced all the references to Irons by Rigss (our new Police Chief);
Fixed the message shown in certain cases when pushing enemies wasn't possible;
Fixed a bug that was showing a dialog between Leopoldo and the Radio while the briefcase was being shown.

Play the updated demo now!

Our inspirations for Vultures' retro vibe
We were very inspired by the older Resident Evil games on PlayStation 1 for the creepy and gloomy ambiance. The same goes for the zombie looks, their 3D models' texturing. And it was the same for the story. In Vultures, you have to manage your inventory, look for clues and a cure, or at least try to understand what happens. We added some elements that we appreciated in the Peace Walker like the dark secrets you can unveil, the resource management, but also the appearance of the characters. On the right, screenshot of the inventory in Vultures: Scavengers of Death. Another reference is Jupiter Hell for its GUI, turn-based gameplay, and general environment display and unit placement.
Amber's appearance is inspired by Mikasa Ackerman (from Attack on Titan).
The aesthetics of the enemies are influenced by Death Metal. There's also a lot of that in the way the themes discussed in its plot are handled.
