Random Encounter Changes

Familia

Familia follows four protagonists through a journey to retake their homeland. The game’s style is highly influenced by 90s-style Japanese role-playing games like Final Fantasy 1-6.
Random Encounters Removed form All Areas Except World Map

These areas include the following:

Intro desert areas
Kalbi Beach, Kalbi Waterfall, Kalbi Cave
Volcano areas
Kalbi Castle, Kalbi Dungeon, Kalbi Jail Caves
Cave and path leading to Kalbian Refuge *The world map features random encounters in the same way it did before.

Why did I make this change?
The truth is that I've always been on the fence regarding random encounters. I was trying to create something like the games I played in the 90s. I have achieved that. However, after extensive research and testing I've come to the conclusion that the younger generation of gamers have no patience for random encounters. This was a difficult decision for me to make, as I love random encounters. I hope to have some form of random encounters as a gameplay option eventually but currently my resources only allow me to create and maintain one version of the game.
How do encounters work now?
Now in hostile areas, enemies will walk around randomly as visible sprites. If your bump into an enemy sprite, they will attack you. Certain sprites will even chase you.
Familia, Act 2 Updates

A Warning to Data Miners
Act 2 content can be found in Familia's current public build, even if not accessible through normal gameplay methods. While I prefer the game is not mined for spoilers I'm also aware that such things are inevitable. All mined content should be considered tentative.
Timeline for the Release of Act 2 and Other Future Acts
I've had difficulty acquiring high-quality art. Fans of the Familia franchise have high standards for art quality. I am talking specifically about the art I used for character portraits. A continued episodic release is proving more difficult than I initially expected. Recommissioning the same artists multiple times is unrealistic. I will continue to build out the series with placeholder art, which will allow me to commission all the needed art in one go. Thus, the game will be completed later that I hoped. If you would like the game sooner, donations and purchases always help. I'm currently considering a membership program similar to Patreon.
Additional Ways to Play the New Familia Content Sooner
I always welcome testers, especially Twitch streamers. I find streaming new game content to be the useful because I get to see multiple opinions in a single live interaction. Video content creators are great as well. Thus, if you are a content creator and would like to play early versions of the game please contact me. Testing is not exclusive to content creators. Anyone can help.
