We decided to pick and combine the most commonly asked questions from the community and here they are:

Is Elypse a Metroidvania?
We got asked this question a lot and there were some initial misunderstandings/miscommunication and assumptions that it was a Metroidvania when the game was initially announced. We would just like to emphasize the fact that we never wanted to call it a Metroidvania and tried to avoid using the term. But everyone knows how the digital space is out of our control as a small team of indie game devs. Honestly speaking, we drew inspirations from celebrated titles, including Ori and the Blind Forest, which influenced the aerial aspect of the controller, providing a sense of freedom and fluidity in movement. Celeste served as a structural blueprint, shaping the game's platforming challenges, and delivering a captivating narrative that unfolds with each step of the adventure. Taking cues from Super Meat Boy, Elypse features a dynamic controller and the exhilarating die-and-retry aspect, ensuring an adrenaline-fueled experience that will keep players hooked. We tried our best infusing Elypse with their spirit while adding our own innovative gameplay elements. It's a fusion of platforming, challenging gameplay and storytelling that offers players a fresh and challenging adventure. While Elypse shares some artistic similarities with metroidvania games, it is more of an action-adventure 2D-Platformer, and we tried to offer a unique experience that sets it apart. Over the course of two years, a close-knit group of friends and developers poured their hearts and souls into this project. Hot Chili Games, founded in 2020, brought together individuals who shared a common vision and an unwavering commitment to creating remarkable gaming experiences. We were five people in total, 1 producer, 2 artists and 2 developers. The actual game development took about 18 months. Through countless hours of hard work, collaboration, and overcoming challenges, Elypse has evolved into a labor of love that showcases the team's talent, creativity, and determination. It is available on Steam, GoG, Epic stores. I think we got some player feedback about the game running smoothly on their Steamdeck. Also, we would like to add here that a lot of people were looking for the demo and as per tradition/usual, we took off the demo on the day of the release. Regarding the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch versions, while it's not officially confirmed, I can share with our curious and supportive community that they can expect it very soon, possibly within the next month.
