Abalon Arena: Multiplayer Card Tactics

Cards, tactics and mutant squirrels! Enter the arena and compete head to head, play cooperatively or go it alone to defeat increasingly challenging onslaughts of enemies in a cunning game of wits set in the fantastical world of Abalon.

[h2]Greetings D20 Fans![/h2] Thank you so much for playing Abalon Arena during Steam Next Fest and providing in-game bug reports and feedback on our Discord server and Steam community page. Thanks to your help, I’ve managed to make some considerable improvements to the game so far. Check out the release notes below. [h1]v0.02.0 Release Notes[/h1] [olist][*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where mousing over cards in the hand to view them wasn't working. (Thanks Foomy44) [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where the rasterization engine was reusing old/outdated rasters of the game, resulting in errors such as the characters and card text not aligning or the grid/UI appearing to look scrunched or spread out. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where it was possible to surrender while in the menu or lobby by using the Surrender/Retreat hot key. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where spectators would get a cascading desync error and/or load to a black screen for any game where a card pickup had been dropped or picked up from an object. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where a player, having defeated themself on their own turn, could become desynced with the other players and start seeing cascading bug modals. [*][b]Fixed other bugs[/b] contributing to sync errors in multiplayer games that resulted in cascading error prompts. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where player could use the end turn button on their ally’s turn after one of their opponents had been defeated in a 2v2 game. (Thanks N.N.Q) [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where it was possible to see the "Initiated Surrender" prompt (which notifies you that your units will attempt to flee at the start of your turn) even if you surrender on your own turn. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where it was possible for multiple players to drop a disconnected player at the same time, which resulted in players who hadn’t disconnected being dropped from the game as well. Made it so that once a player is dropped or reconnected, the drop player prompt is automatically dismissed for other players. (Thanks Reiga, Coolstory, mr.kitty) [*][b]Game Alerts:[/b] Made it so game alerts (i.e. player disconnected, player surrendered, player reconnected) only center for the animated message, but appear as regular left justified text in the chat log. [*][b]Chat Improve:[/b] Teammate’s player color appears as green in the chat log instead of red. [*][b]AI: Fixed bug[/b] where AI was throwing a sync error due to units being knocked in the water and the return to the board from water was resulting in different trigger sequences for the player and AI. [*][b]AI: Fixed bug[/b] where AI was throwing sync errors when a player was eliminated on their own turn (i.e. from poison). Players are no longer eliminated until their start turn sequence (and all start turn triggers) are finished resolving. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where units that fell in water are returned to the board after their owning player has been eliminated from the game. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where player could not right click on their teammate's surprise trap to view its card. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where Sibylla could sacrifice ally summoners in 4 players games to gain back life. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where Raise Dead could revive defeated enemy summoners in 4 player games. [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where a Gnome Scholar returned to the board by an opponent (for example, by dispelling the Chronomancer’s send ally to the future) would result in the opponent getting to choose a card from the gnome controller’s deck. The Gnome’s warcry now only triggers when being added to the board on its controller’s turn. (Thanks Jear) [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where a Metamorph who transformed into another unit could be unsummoned using the Unsummon spell resulting in a the transformed unit being added to that player’s hand and the Metamorph remaining on the board back in its original shape. Transformed Metamorphs can no longer be unsummoned. (Thanks Arseface™) [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where stacking vulnerability from Meditate and Earth Elemental resulted in the vulnerability damage being applied twice. (Thanks Jear) [*][b]Fixed bug[/b] where using Madness or other temporary mind control effects on a Metamorph and then transforming it into another character resulted in gaining permanent control of the Metamorph. [*][b]Map Improve:[/b] Added border terrain and exits to the 2v2 Desert Temple map[/olist] [h1]Coming Next[/h1] Abalon Arena's demo will remain live through the duration of next week for Steam's Remote Play Festival. My next priority will is adding support for local multiplayer (i.e. the ability to add a local guest player) so that you can play local co-op battles and use Steam's Remote Play feature. After the festival, we'll take a break to integrate other features (single player/coop campaign ladders, async multiplayer, etc.) and aim for more demo opportunities in the future before launch.
