Oubliette’s First Official Dev Log, and First Laurel!

[p]Hi everyone! If you’re reading this, it’s likely you expressed some interest in Oubliette at some point in the last year. For that, our 3-person team at Abyssal Foundry are deeply grateful. It’s been a while since we’ve shared much in the way of progress on our game, but we have been working behind the scenes, chipping away at it as best we can.[/p][p][/p]
So, what’s changed?
[p]Along with some fixes, we do have one exciting new piece of content: collectible codex entries. It might not sound like much right now, but this will play a core part of how we will be delivering Oubliette’s story. [/p][p] [/img][/p][p][/p][p]These collectible entries, scattered randomly throughout the levels in the form of abandoned dictaphones, will offer those interested a way in learning more about Oubliette’s lore through a new character: Dr Harriet Fairfax. Voiced by Tracy Wiles, Dr Fairfax’s dictaphones document the findings of an expedition into the chasm long before Madeleine first set foot in it herself. What did Fairfax uncover? What happened to her? What even is this place? All fair questions, with rather cryptic answers…[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
We’re in a festival!
[p]We’re also excited to inform you all that we have been selected for the Aesthetica Film Festival 2025’s Games Lab! Oubliette will be in York, along with a selection of other fantastic games, available to be played from the 5th-9th of November. If you’re in the area, or fancy a nice day out to watch some films and play some games, come give the new version a go! The developer, Luc (aka. the guy writing this post), will be there too; so come say hi if you see me![/p][p] [/p]
But I want to play it now!
[p]We’ve had a few people now express interest in wanting to download a version of the demo to play on their own machines. This is something we’re looking into, and we’ll let you know as soon as we can. We’re trying to keep our options open when it comes to funding, and are wary that a demo at this stage may close some doors for us. That being said, as soon as we can, we’d be delighted to share the game with the world. If you follow us on Steam, you’ll be some of the first to know when you can download it.[/p][p][/p][p]We’d like to give you all a good idea of what to expect from Oubliette as we continue working on it. We’re aiming to release videos and (potentially) do some livestreams to give you a more detailed peek under the hood, so keep and eye out for those.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks for sticking with us; Madeleine’s journey has only just begun…[/p][p][/p][p]See you soon,[/p][p]The Abyssal Foundry Team [/p]
