A cozy detective adventure where you play as a vacation-bound writer who stumbles upon an idyllic town plagued by an enigmatic thief. Crack the case in this charming seaside town, build relationships, and unravel secrets in a world full of quirky characters and heartwarming stories.
On Your Tail is the perfect game to play on an handheld, enjoying its relaxing atmosphere under the blankets, which is why we wanted to make sure the game ran to its full potential on Steam Deck.
And the game runs great indeed!
First of all, you don't have to change any visual settings: the game will run at max settings by default on Deck.

You can run both at the full Steam Deck resolution 1280x800 or at classic 1280x720. Performances are not impacted, but running at 720p can avoid some UI and video stretching problems.

Visual settings are already at max, aside from MSAA which is disabled. MSAA visual impact is minimal on the Steam Deck screen and pushing it to 8x can be taxing, so we suggest to leave it Off.
You can then tweak the Steam Deck settings to either push for max battery life or max performance.
Maximize Battery Life
If you opt for Max Battery Life you can tweak some parameters in the Steam Deck Performance settings to achieve over 7 hours of gameplay.
First of all, press the ... button, go to the Performance tab, enable Advanced View and then set:
- Enable Use per-game profile
- Frame Limit: 40FPS
- TDP Limit: 7 Watts
- GPU Clock: 800Mhz

This will let you play the game at stable 40fps, while preserving Battery Life. Of course you can dim the Steam Deck screen to achieve even better results.
Maximize Performances
So you really want to play On Your Tail at 90fps on your Deck? No problem, you can do it while limiting power consumption too: you should be able to easily reach 4 or more hours of gameplay with these settings.
Use these Performance settings:
- Enable Use per-game profile
- Frame Limit: 90FPS
- TDP Limit: 10 Watts
- GPU Clock: 1200Mhz

Obviously you can experiment with settings and run the game at 60fps with minimal impact.
Hope you'll enjoy your stay in Borgo Marina... on your Steam Deck!
