Hello raiders! This is your dedicated team reaching out from the depths of our dangerous galaxy to connect with all of you who follow us so passionately. In this new dev diary, we’re going to share the process behind creating another creature you’ll encounter in the game, known to the raider colonists as the gunlaxy. Some of you might remember seeing a glimpse of it a few diaries ago. Please keep in mind that what we’re showing you is still a work in progress, and things may change in the final product. As you know from previous dev diaries, we’ve based our creature designs on a fusion of biology and mechanics. However, we wanted to explore something entirely biological this time, leading us to experiment with a creature that doesn’t have any obvious mechanical components, and thus, the gunlaxy was born. The Imperial explorers who first encountered a gunlaxy during the early colonization of Neterun gave it its name because of its unique attack style. We designed the creature with an internal organ that concentrates sonic energy into a beam, alongside small vents that can fire sonic matter projectiles, hence the name it’s now known by among raiders. These antennae can detect not only biological creatures but also many of the machines that roam the Galaxy of Neterun. This means that raiders, with all their metal enhancements, are far from safe when faced with this creature. Gunlaxies are much more protective of their nests compared to the morays we discussed in the last dev diary. The moment their antennae pick up on potential danger near their nest, they’ll attack anyone they perceive as a threat. In short, if a raider stumbles into a cluster of gunlaxy nests, they’ll need every bit of their survival skills to get out with their metal bodies intact. We hope you enjoyed it and look forward to sharing more in the next entry. Farewell, raiders!
