However, a man learns all his life, and today we would like to share with you a lesson without which today's work process would be going in a completely different (wrong) direction. What matters when working on any project is communication, which can sometimes be difficult. Therefore, the circulation of information is very important. What to do then? Read how the beginnings of Perseverance: Part 1 looked like. Going back a few years - the initial vision for the game changed after six weeks of development. The first Vision Doc described a game that was ‘super-indie’. With time, many ideas came up about the game’s presentation and the amount of detail that needed to be included. We agreed on reaching a certain level of quality. But somewhere along the way, we forgot to make sure that all the artists work within the same framework. This made backgrounds and characters being imported into the project in many resolutions and sizes. Not to mention files were named in both Polish and English which made navigation around the project a hassle. Having a Technical Document with all the resolutions and sizes described straight from the beginning would save us a lot of time and errors late in the development. Moreover, such a document is a good way to introduce new people joining the team to the workflow and rules of the project. Of course, questions may always arise but Tech Doc keeps them to a minimum, and when they do arise, most of the time they are very important. Lesson learned: always create a Technical Document, even for small projects.
