Key Blend Update (1.2.0)

Woodrow the Old Piano

Woodrow the Old Piano is a novelty musical toy and MIDI player, using real sounds from a distressed antique piano. Connect a keyboard controller or use your PC keys to play, or load in MIDI files for pianola-style playback, and enjoy the ear-piercing noises of this out-of-tune relic!

The curious jaded keys of Woodrow the Old Piano have received some great feedback and we're glad that you're enjoying this strange old piano just as much as we are. However, the keys are indeed jaded, and we have seen some requests for a way to reduce how old it sounds. Ultimately, Woodrow the Old Piano is meant to sound old, and that's why we love it, but we have listened to the feedback. In this update, we've introduced the Key Blend slider, which allows you to clean up the sound to your liking.
How it Works
The slider is on 0 by default, which gives you the original Woodrow sound. Dragging it to the right blends Woodrow with an additional sound pack and subdues the resonant sound. Woodrow the Old Piano was made using an authentic, custom soundpack. The Key Blend slider introduces new sounds that are not recordings of the real piano that Woodrow was modelled on. These sounds are 3rd party recordings of an old but tuned piano. The Key Blend slider essentially blends in tuned keys on top of Woodrow, and crispens the sound by simultaneously reducing the bass and volume of Woodrow. Note, however, that it does not fully tune Woodrow or turn off the "old sound", as that isn't what Woodrow the Old Piano is about. We hope that this feature will give users some extra control to brighten and tune the sound when playing pieces that use the lesser tuned keys. For those who enjoy the original sound, you can simply leave the slider set to 0.
Other News
We recently released an update that adds scalable full screen, supporting most common resolutions. This is part of our continued commitment to making sure Woodrow the Old Piano works better than ever. This update also includes a fix that automatically adjusts Woodrow the Old Piano into full screen mode if it detects a low resolution that isn't supported, to offer the best chance at compatibility. That's all for now. Thanks for reading
