Introduction to the AD 2.0: Big Pack of New Features and Optimizations

Note that since of substantial shrinking of file size on HD (from 65GB on launch to 26GB and finally now to just 15GB), it will take longer to download this patch to those who have the game already installed. The patch will be rolled in the period from 8-9 March 2021.
Hello Racers from around the globe,

Arizona Derby getting to the next level, bringing a new patch with extreme updates, to make it the world's best racing game in terms of gameplay, graphics, smoothest, and most immersive experiences.

Winter is almost over, but Arizona Derby Season is just about to starts.

We don't have any marketing, you're here only due to the visibility that Steam gave us (and thanks for it), so one way or another more racing fans will be finding the game and enjoy its huge world's.

Switching to the latest Unreal Engine version brought more performance improvements, softest and even more high-end graphics, leaving AAA racing competition in the dust and dirt
And now, without further ado, we're opening a hood:
0. ZERO POINT GAME-OPTIMIZATION
Yes, it's under point ZERO since it will remove the main (now called 'micro stuttering since optimization was improved over time, but still weren't perfect) which was there for years...with very helpful advice from player Hexaae, I do additional optimizations and culling volumes, with all the latest optimizations on the grass particles spawned from tires, firework side, also particles pooling logics, also improved occlusion culling techniques, those visibility cullings make stable 60fps over time.
0a. GAME PACKAGE WAS REDUCED TO JUST 15 GB!
The game package was reduced after its release in July 2019 from initially 65GB to 26GB. The game has 32 open-world tracks, over 85 cars, 35 ADrivers, and a very large amount of customizations, over 100 soundtracks, etc. The game size on the disc is now reduced just to the unbelievable 15GB for this kind of content, it's really nothing for the amount of the content it offers compared to the other AAA racers, similar in content, and their sizes are about 60GB.
1. Balancing Dirt's off the Cars
This is the core of an off-road game and no matter, we loves our advanced shader work with making supercars extremely dirt, it wasn't always a pleasure to watch it, especially like 80% of the game: or: or like this, which may looks glitchy in some occasions: Such dirt will be much more balanced in terms of cleaner cars: So finally, we get to move unnecessary dirt from the game (you can also wash the car by going through the waters) and to get much more realistic things. This thing was done long ago, I was so proud of super-realistic shaders and spent weeks into them, that lately I never thought about making cars less dirt and finally, that's happening, so you'll see all the normal dirt, but not some heavy stuff over the car like before. Glass dynamic dirting has also its own way of dirt algorithm and will becoming slowly dirtier, like car materials: there's dynamic weather systems together with all glass material dynamism: and interior will be less dirt than this: or even this: Dirt levels of car chassis will be going from: To more tuned values like:
2. Top ADriver's named after best AD Players ever
First of all also will love to give a special hola, to the best racers in-game, and the main characters are now made by guys that topped leaderboards over the previous one and a half years, showing exceptional skills (AD off-road racing require a special skill set which they mastered). The first top player to get his character in-game is XXZ3ROXX, this dude literally hits out lists with the fastest possible times, we never thought it's possible, and the most expensive ADriver character is named after him, you can unlock him with AD$ earned in-game competitions: Next, who follow him and even in some tracks topped over his results is LUNATEK, he's also mastered and achieved insane times at the lists: Another one, who also track them in the feet, is the NITEVISION, rated very highly, gets top times on many tracks: Next is the MARTENS78, he's playing for a long period of time, on low-end pc and after upgrading rig, he's was amazed what's the graphics on game, he's doing really great as well, he was a leader at many tracks before XXZ3 and NITE top the lists down, congrats, buddy: Also, we have FLASHBAC85, who's winning the top lists over months and years like Martens, he helped with many feedback, along with many other players (who's also on lists and thank you guy, more of ADrivers will take the name after you). (please note that Bio in boxes to the ADrivers default from the original version of the game, I changed just theirs's names, if some of you want to add something custom there, please contact me). We're so proud of you guys, congratulations on it and congratulating the many others mentioned in the previous update and many of tens of thousands who put their names on the top lists, not mentioned, you're doing a great job, congrats guys and girls.
3. Customization of the Controls
There are some changes in information and visuals of the customization controls, also gamepad customizations (since it was experimental) was revoked, so the player can customize keyboard controls. Latter on this to be extended with full customizations of everything, that's not only Car Racing, but also ADrone controls, ADriver controls, other controls (music, pause, soundtrack...), Photo Mode controls. There's too many stuff in-game, so take care what you override, bellow was default customizations maps: so you can check on the map, and not override some other important buttons. I will extend this lately, when the game gets more famous, with further customizations, for now, it's okay to have these basic car controls customized.
4. Missing & Fixing Boss Avatar in SMS overlay at HUD
For some reason, in corner of the screen, it was missing Boss pictures and has been put there, so you can check the latest and very useful information during racings (or turn this out if you don't need it, in Settings). Theis notifications were visible, in some cases, during the game pause, and now that's prevented. Similarly, they'll not appear during Photo Mode. There's over hundreds of useful tips, and you'll be informed from level
5. Some scenes has new lighting built
And this light's now looks nice, like Menu's scenes and lightmaps are optimized so it's achieved even faster loading times and performances. So all looks even step ahead realistic.
6. Loading screen gets more informations
Loading from menu scene to race will give you more useful information, loading time is blazing fast (comparing to the other AAA racers, were sometimes taking minutes) but anyways it's for your smoother experience, i.e. if you playing 1000s of races:
7. Fixings some parts, lightings, and other stuff in intro scenes
Like initial supercar has some weird transparent spoiler, and few other little glitches, now fixed, so you can enjoy the intro scene: Also lighting rebuild and more optimized, so it should run more smoothly. It's complex comparing to 99% of other games, it has plenty of high-end content, depicting real off-road garage, so that's why it is optimized over the period to work on your rigs as smooth as possible. Picture above is AD off-road testing unit
8. Terrain Glitches and Little Polishing Along the Way
AD has 32 big open world's tracks and it's very complex to set it out everything, but over time, I smooth it out and now doing things like: for maximum perfections (when launched, as of many tracks changes, tracks were widened to be practical without boundaries, so that's left many objects in the air. And that's fixed like a year ago with help of many players all over maps, and now I tried to go over all levels and fix these final parts to be perfect, as it's possible: and final part of the level: (Right-click to open the picture in full quality in the new browser tab). So, such things (due to many changes over years making this wide off-road terrains, from initial very limited and narrow roads): Is less likely to be discovered all over 32 levels.
9. More Colorful Garage
Starting from this build I introduce more colors into the garage, so it will look vivid and interesting for spending time pimping and tuning rigs into the garage and gets some cool workout done, to pack for racings. Also, the main stage, there will be AD$ Treasury held and populated with earned golden packs, was before this build more flatten, so now looks like this:
11. Setting out "AD-GAS" feature
This is still an experimental feature, but it may provide in future needs for you to have enough gas in order to play, so you should, like in real life, after a lot of races, put some gas into engines in order to race. "AD-GAS" feature is just to replicate realism since gas will be affordable in the game.
12. Moving years from the AD-flags
Before, there were outdated years in flags (those flags were made in 2016, so they updated till 2020), in-racings but also in the menu, so now years been removed.
13. ADJ's Music Players Improving
ADJ's is an Arizona Derby music disc jokey radio that mixes over 100's of the greatest hits while you racing, with a lot of licensed music and custom-created soundtracks. There's some changes to the latest edition: To looks more attuned, also some fixes are done into a functioning, like when music track is changed reset it's display timer, so the title will stay longer on screen.
14. Instructions panels improved
Some instructions panel's UI/UX improved in order to provide more finest experience.
15. Lights Optimisation improvement
Before it's opted that lights stay turned on, even during day events. Movable spotlights taking a lot of the processing power unnecessary, so they're turned down now for all cars. If you want, you can turn it on for your car (it will be better performance than before when other AI racers also have it). Now it's default turned off and just car days light (very optimized) glow. Point lights, which were very GPU intense, are turned off. Also, before during the day, that creates sometimes too many bright scenes that looked like glitches, so that's turned all down (when some car gets close to the other cars, too many extensive lights during day time, changes its visual appearing). So now that's fixed.
16. Car Material Reflections fixed for all car materials
Arizona Derby has implemented one of the most advanced realistic reflection shaders into the game industry, enabling great quality of the cars and extreme realism. However, with some materials, we're not satisfied and their reflections were improved. One example of custom reflective shaders, before: and how reflections looks after patch: And here's an example of how cool are materials and their reflections now. AD blurring the borders between reality and game, even step further. Everyone posting screenshots with RTX on, and this is a screenshot with RTX OFF since AD takes to max out of your graphical system, like no racer before:
17. Package size has been optimized
By doing more of the packaging and some extra optimizations and removing unneeded content, the AD game gets even better optimizations.
18. Fixing AI's waypoints in Siberia 1st track
Some mess was with waypoints in Siberia part 1 and now it's fixed, so you can enjoy challenging racing out there.
19. Fixed flooded level at Siberia 2nd Track
Endless maps editing made 2nd track of Siberia flooded: so that's now fixed: and:
19. Car idle sounds when loading fixed
I turned off some sound glitch when loading from the game to the menu. (Unreal engine makes stays sound active). So now that's a smooth experience. Also, car idle engine sounds in the garage are lower than before, so it's not too noisy. You can anyways fine-tune all effects in Options/Sound settings.
20. Fixed engine sounds that stays in pause
No more idle engine sounds in the pause menu during racing.
21. On reloading game from Menu, fixed glitching engine sound
No more idle engine sounds glitch while getting back to the Menu
22. Getting into Photo Mode ('F' Key) has engine sounds muted
Engine and ground sounds muted, while cars are in Photo Mode.
23. Pause Menu can't starts in Photo Mode
Pause impossible in Photo Mode and when player reach finish.
24. Photo-Mode can't start in finish
Now it's not possible to start Photo mode once the player reaches the finish. Also, Photo-Mode is redesigned now and looks like this:
25. First-person cam view from the cockpit is now tuned
By suggestions of few players, first-person cam view from the cockpit is put higher, so it brought more realistic in-car atmosphere:
26. ADriver Third person view is now fine tuned
Camera position is more polished for the closer and more through actions while looting in-air supplies. [previewyoutube=gc8JY1L_Wrg;full][/previewyoutube]
27. Exhausts cracks was missing in previous builds
As of some changes, atmospheric exhausts cracks particles were missing from the main car and were never spawned at other racers' cars. This build changing this, making it available for all cars, so much more sporting atmosphere is guaranteed.
28. Introducing Hood Camera Views
Alongside with the few games views, first-person view, and all alongside and back views, Arizona Derby gets a fresh new hood cam view: [previewyoutube=usApS_u0waY;full][/previewyoutube] Here's the picture of the front Hood view: also nice back view, which reveal your spoiler in the very details:
29. Daylights and rear LED's on for all cars during the race
Before LED daylights and rear lights aren't turned on automatically for all cars, now that's the tune, and overall looks much cooler: Your car can have lights turned on and off at 'L'-key.
30. Rear Dust Cloud Logics
It is introduced extra dust cloud logic's at braking, so overall visual FX looks like: [previewyoutube=Hzj4yrnyMUU;full][/previewyoutube]
31. Side view camera's fine tuned
Camera's position fine-tuned, so the full car can be in view before was one tire missing from views and now looks like:
32. PhotoMode - auto Depth of Field/Auto Focus set
With Auto-focus enabled, you'll have nicely focused pictures of your car in Photo Mode: And of course, you can set up focus manually and fine-tune all the details to get the perfect Photo's from the right angle in mid of the most intense action.
33. Firework Optimisations
This extra optimization will make firework less impact (since before it's CPU heavy) on the gameplay, so there will still be some random cool firework, 2-3 during racing, but not too much of them and not too intrusive.
34. More graphics improvements, so car setup, graphics, and lighting are ultra-realistic
Overall, with AD, you'll definitely don't need RTX features, since we utilizing maximum out of the graphical performances: [previewyoutube=k5VIIS6bCAs;full][/previewyoutube]
35. Sophisticated dirt logic's of the cars gets even more realistic
Arizona Derby utilizing a set of very complex visual algorithms that interacts with environments and creating those ultra-realistic weather effects, including dirt, water splashes, metal corrosion, and all other realistic aspects of one off-road competition. Now it gets even better. We improved and polished algorithms and now cars get dirtier in a longer period, not fastly, not too slow. Another aspect is that cars getting rid of the dirt by simply going through waters and that's now gets faster, so now its more obvious process and you can see every set of the details, and dozens of dirt and other materials ultra-realistic details: [previewyoutube=G_FLjcOnkIA;full][/previewyoutube] Also, it's added option that if you intend to go through the waters, you will clean your rig for more prolonged, so you will enjoy a rinse and shined ride.
36. No hits to the Car in Photo-Mode
As of large scope, tons of things added over years, there's also cool, very detailed and useful Photo-Mode, where you can take stunning photos. However it has some bug, which I never had time to fix, so you can hit a car (and particles spawn around) with your Photo Camera when orbiting around the car to take a shot from some cool angle, like: Now, that's fixed and it's not possible anymore.
37. Big Title of Track, Level Name, Boss Name, Track and Total XP
This is all added at the start of the race, so you can keep track on:
38. Finish Standing Position Cinematics fixed
For some reason, maybe as of Unreal Engine switching to newer versions, some important cinematic at end of the gameplay missing, so here is how it'll looks: [previewyoutube=LKZgy6S6xxg;full][/previewyoutube]
39. 'Continue' Button Fix
Few users told me that on some occasions, the 'Continue' button does not works, since no mouse with whom can be clicked, it's some UE engine glitch (as many of others that I fixed over time...), also little due to extreme AD complexity, but anyways now that's reassured to 100% works now:
40. What happened when you defeat all Bosses?
Lot of players asked me and this is what happens: And you should continue playing on harder difficulties, unlocking more cars, upgrades, tweaks, and tune your perfect rigs. Also, you should play night races and open totally new perks, along with higher XP.
41. Dubai Pack Giveaway
For all you who are reading all this, this is a special reward since Arizona Derby celebrates this 2.0 version with Dubai Pack Giveaway. Three of the best AD cars will be given freely, to all current and new users: [previewyoutube=J3-mDle3Zlw;full][/previewyoutube] You will be also given freely 3 sets of the most exclusive rims and tires, so you can get combo like: And here's some very cool actions playing with these new rigs: [previewyoutube=bLSAOFv-vg0;full][/previewyoutube]
42. Fixed glitch when sometimes no focus on the start and mouse shown sometimes at gameplay
This bothersome thing was finally fixed, there's no more mouse visible at the start and also gameplay window is focused. Before due to some Unreal Engine complexities, that was not cleared. And due to no focus, sometimes before you press with mouse around, you can't control your car.
43. Fixed glitch that in Main Menu when Cinematic Camera gets out of the scene, instead of to endless loop
This happens if you leave Main Menu Main Camera view or Car View, idle, so the camera after some times gets out of the garage :) Now that's fixed, and it will loop all the way around.
44. Can't do nitro at idle or low speeds
Nitro is now impossible at idle or very low speeds, which is way more normal than splashing out the whole nitro with no movements since nitro itself will not move the car in reality as well.
45. Golden Cars Material is now available for your custom rigs
With Dubai Giveaway Pack, golden car material is coming, so you can put those shiny colors at any of your unlocked cars. [previewyoutube=31VpoW-UuIc;full][/previewyoutube]
46. License plates letters are centered
Before that was not centered and looked a little glitchy, so now looks better:
47.
48. Pause Menu look improved

49. Visible more forthcoming checkpoints
Due to asking from some players, it's visible more forthcoming checkpoints, so players can adapt their racing strategies for best results, shortest roads, and prepare for curvings.
50. Options to hide all checkpoints in the game
This is for highly skilled players who want to enjoy the best that the Arizona Derby offers in terms of the quality of visuals without any disturbances. It will be just visible next checkpoint number, which will lead them in the direction. Here you can check how this all work in practice: [previewyoutube=29fAUfumkb8;full][/previewyoutube]
50. Much Cooler Checkpoint Design
Finally, the old boring, white edges of the checkpoint are all gone, from now one AD welcomes you with new visuality of checkpoints, so your racing actions will be unforgettable:
51. Pause impossible when holding Nitro
This fixing glitch that nitro stays and been emptied after you get back from pause since of many variables included in its logics and screen blurring and other effects.
52. 'Continue' button after finishing the race in rare cases doesn't work
Players reported that the 'Continue' button after finishing the race in rare cases not work. This isn't welcoming especially when you earn good results. That finishing logics is very very complex, since of tons cinematics, variables, and other things to bring such immense presentation at Finish Stand, and I found a way to reassure all that, adding an option that you can continue with pressing "SPACE" on the keyboard: [previewyoutube=A0oxZ1gVL-4;full][/previewyoutube] This happens very rarely, from the very starts (due to the complexity of game logic's) and reported just like few times, so I make sure that all the efforts of the players will be rewarded (since before in those rare cases they need to restart the game). Especially when a player gives the best and finish the race and expects top prizes they can't continue, so this will never repeat again even in minor cases. That's all, folks, for now! PS. a lot of players reporting an amazing increase of optimizations after this patch, hope you will all play like I imagined this game, and see the real fun that was imagined behind this game. it has a lot of content features and I didn't have time (no matter I posted like 1,000 improvements over time and different kinds of optimizations) to address this properly like now (only if I replicate myself in 30 people lol). it's great to see players that reported like: or Arizona Derby best player, XxZ3R0xX succeeded to nail level even better: many were amazed with optimization fix also: Still, I have plans to optimize, even more, a fresh new build is on the way that will increase for up to 20% performances of Tropical tracks
