Hello Bread Or Dead VR Players! If you've been enjoying the game recently, you might wonder what the next updates have in store. Here's a rough roadmap as to what we'll be doing.
First, I'll start with what we want to do in the short term. Squashing jank and bugs is crucial. If you have a problem, come over to our discord and we'll attempt to fix it; We get ~75% of our bugs from the community. Other than that, we want to focus on ironing out confusing mechanics (which there are a lot of). The biggest offender for that right now is the camp game mode due to complexity.
If you're wondering about new features: We want to get in some new enemies for story mode. A few ideas have been tossed around including giant dragonflies infected by the Evil Yeast or more mutated zombies. Either way, we want to increase variety in that area.
Another new feature that we want to get in is a Hunger/Thirst system for the story mode as well as more exciting looting. We've already prototyped the Hunger/Thirst system and it's working well. As for looting, we've already brought some changes to fridges that make them easier to open, but we want to crack open some of the drawers that you are physically incapable of looting as well. Some more unique doodads will adorn the shelves inside.
These short term plans will be partially rolled out by the end of this year. We're looking at 1 more update before 2025.
Next, for the long term plans. We want to prioritize getting Story Mode and Tech Tree ready long-term. Tech Tree mode has some long-standing problems we need to fix including the travel time between zones, the odd-looking nature of the scanner, and the relative lack of stylization on the UI. Also, we need to increase enemy variety and add some more events that bring chaos, whether that be zombie dogs, marauders, or a boss wave of some sort.
Story Mode is a longer story. While it's in a decent place right now, what we need to do is make saving/loading a more reliable endeavor, add Egypt and other areas as a map, create boss battles, add an actual - y'know - [i]story[/i] to story mode, and much more. This will take a while, and Story Mode will stay in the "vent" for a long time to come.
