Opening Ramble:
For LKY, anxiety has become the norm.
Every time LKY needs to announce a delay, sleepless nights follow. Even if LKY manages to fall asleep at two or three in the morning, waking up at 5:30 AM is inevitable. Feeling extremely tired but unable to get back to sleep.
Each delay announcement requires LKY to build up psychological strength for a long time, from initially one day to now three or four days.
The "Summer Case Files" being delayed by almost a year has been torturous for those who care about it and equally so for LKY.
It torments LKY's spirit and body, as well as LKY's wallet.
An extra year has added a significant burden, nearly becoming the last straw that breaks the camel's back.
But having come this far, ending up in such a situation, just like LKY described "Summer Case Files" during crowdfunding, it's something LKY caused and must bear alone.
LKY has some minor strengths but also significant flaws. This flaw led LKY from favorable circumstances into adversity, even dire straits.
Overestimating one's capabilities while underestimating the complexity of each work process. Constantly making plans that are unachievable, feeling anxious and distressed as deadlines loom, paying the price over and over again, turning a good hand into a mess.
From owning a car, a house, savings, a wife, and children, LKY has become someone who only orders cheap takeout meals, not even planning to return home for the New Year.
"Summer Case Files" represents a new beginning for LKY, a form of atonement.
LKY has poured years of debt and guilt into this game.
But in truth, it's also extremely selfish, because LKY believes that "the purpose of an apology is to make oneself feel better. It does nothing to mend the harm caused."
Yet there's no other way but to apologize first and then find a way to make amends.
To express the desire to apologize through the game and then compensate with future efforts.
Regarding this delay:
This delay has little to do with the progress of the game, although significant updates have been made recently.
LKY removed potentially risky content from the game, especially content that might violate STEAM guidelines.
Since "Summer Case Files" is a visual novel set in high school times, it includes some cooler scenes and ambiguous plots. In this adjustment, LKY made modifications to avoid all these risks.
Also, "Summer Case Files" is a game that has already passed review, so there's no issue with getting stuck in the review process.
However, LKY is very timid, fearing that the game would be banned after launch due to violations, so adjustments were made and completed smoothly.
This delay mainly concerns ongoing promotional work.
After ten days of promotion, the wish list for "Summer Case Files" saw a noticeable increase, matching the number of wishes accumulated over the past six months within just ten days.
LKY feels extremely regretful and frustrated; if this promotional approach had started two months earlier, the situation would be entirely different.
But given the current state, LKY can only try to remedy the situation. LKY contacted some friends, hoping to conduct another round of promotions, aiming to increase the number of wish lists and market presence.
However, it's impossible to skip the Chinese New Year.
Therefore, LKY will delay "Summer Case Files" by another week, releasing it on either January 22nd or January 24th.
This request may seem unreasonable, but for the current LKY, everything must be done to ensure the game's successful release.
A week doesn't mean much for games with excellent promotional strategies, but for "Summer Case Files," it's crucial. The foundation of "Summer Case Files" is too weak; an additional week could nearly double the wish list.
LKY can feel everyone's concern and support.
With gratitude in heart but ashamed to accept it, LKY has consistently failed to live up to everyone's care and support until now.
But LKY can only express deep remorse here and hopes that you, watching on your screen, will allow LKY to release "Summer Case Files" without regrets.
PS: During the Spring Festival, "Summer Case Files" will remain operational, addressing any bugs and providing support after the game goes live.
