Flat Heroes, as a widely know game for its visual style based on the latest graphic design tendencies is moving forward to meet Comic Sans: the new trendy font of our era.
Flat Heroes has always been trying to be at the forefront of the graphic design tendencies following several visual style trends, such as flat design or material design. Now it's preparing to go ahead in this stream adopting the late 90s trendy experience: Comic Sans. With this move the company expects to be ready to match the top cutting-edge visual tendencies when Flat Heroes comes out of Early Access.
The first iteration with the new art style has passed all internal quality test and will be available to all our Steam players tomorrow 1st of April.
"The first windows logo and current one (10) have a similar style. In graphic design, as in many other arts, trends are cyclic" explains Lucas Gonzalez, visual artist of the project, "It's a matter of time that Comic Sans comes back stronger than ever, and then we will be ready".
Despite of the hate from the graphic designers establishment, Comic Sans was a revolution of its era. Initially designed for comic speech bubbles, the font quick broke these barriers and started expanding in any context of the society, from public services to police reports or commercial adverts or even sport trophies. Its simple and friendly style helps to communicate a clear message in a nice educated manner, allowing this font to replace other unfashionable options like Helvetica on the career for the perfect design.
But Parallel Circles doesn't stop there. Roger Valldeperas, main tool programmer in Flat Heroes, is working on a tool to integrate WordArt in the game engine:
"The idea was to implement a tool that allowed us to create a wide and fancy range of visual experiences. When we asked ourselves that question the answer was clear: WordArt".
As always let us know your thoughts and suggestions, and get ready to play with the new style, starting tomorrow. April 1st !
