This is a spinoff of the hit game Drug Dealer Simulator and the legendary show Narcos. It’s the 1980s, and you are a disgraced CIA agent turned drug dealer. In this story-driven simulator about the life of crime, you will run your business in Mexico and the US.
Hey there, lords and dealers!
Recently we’ve launched our FAQ, responding to the questions asked by YOU. Perhaps we were too mysterious - some of you wanted, nay, DEMANDED more insightful answers. And it was delightful! It’s delightful to know that you want to know more.
You asked for it, so brace yourselves. Here’s FAQ 2.0: MEGA edition! It replaced the first FAQ as it became obsolete now.
Question: Will there be some Breaking Bad references?
Answer: We have to ask “the one who knocks”. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but our teaser has an easter egg. ;) However, I wouldn’t expect much more. We love Breaking Bad (who doesn’t?!), but we are already working with another beloved show and we are 100% committed to getting it right. We have more than enough to work with. The universe of Narcos is extensive, rich, and super immersive. Well, that’s what you get when you base your show on a true story. Life tells the best tales!
Q: Will there be some popular drug barons like Pablo Escobar, El Chapo or references for them?
A: Yup. More than one. We can’t reveal more at this time because that would mean huge spoilers. But in general, here’s a hint. We’re working with Narcos. See who they have. Who knows, maybe we have this character in our game?

Let’s revisit the DDS2 smash hit song!
Q: Will there in DDS x Narcos be similar music to DDS?
A: Sure thing! After all, it’s the same universe and the same type of game. We plan to adapt some themes from the OG game, but also we’ll have a lot of new ones. Our style will be a mix of both worlds because we’re not staying in the USA for the entire time. We have a completely new Mexican location to score, and it has to reflect the culture and the atmosphere of the place.
Q: Controller support? So we can play it on the steam deck!!!
A: We would love to have it. So keep your fingers crossed. However, you need to be aware of the challenges that controller implementation brings. The biggest one is redesigning the user interface for the controller. We can’t simply make the game playable with a joypad without adjusting the way the menus work with the mouse and keyboard. This means additional design, visual work, even sound work, a lots and lots of testing. So it’s not just flipping a switch. However, in our approach, we’ve kept controllers in mind since day 1, so should we decide to finally go this route, the foundation is already there.
Q: What kind of game will it be? RTS/Management or first person (like DDS)?
A: It will be a first-person drug dealer sim but with more emphasis on the plot. Sure, the DDS universe is big enough to encompass an RTS as well, but we do not want to reinvent the wheel. We want to add chrome to the rims. We have the privilege and opportunity to dive into the vast world of Narcos and bring it to the DDS universe. Narcos is masterful storytelling, so the best thing to take from it is stories. At the same time, we don’t want to lose sight of what made DDS great, which is first-person simulation.

Q: How big is the game compared to DDS1?
A: The size will be comparable, meaning quite a large game. We’ll have the town as seen in the year of our lord 1989, so very much different than what you saw in DDS, but with recognizable places. We’ll also have a Mexican town that you’ll be visiting frequently to run the more strategic part of your business. All in all, it’s a legit full-sized game.
Q: How long has the game been in development?
A: Almost a year now, and what a year it’s been!
Q: What is the motive behind this game? Is it even more of a story game, in the sense that it operates mission-wise like CoD, Battlefield, Titanfall or any other story game?
A: It’s more of a story-driven game. As in every story, there are acts, which start and end on an important beat. However, this doesn’t mean a mission-like design. It still has everything you loved in DDS, and more, but structured in a more fleshed-out plot. While DDS was about you putting yourself in the shoes of a Ghetto dealer, here, we tell a story of a well-defined character, with a certain fate, but also with a degree of freedom for the player to get to those moments that we wrote. This may sound vague but I don’t want to spoil anything yet. I think you’re gonna like it!
Q: What's the release date? Lol, sorry I couldn't resist.
A: The release date will be announced soon. But it’s sooner rather than later. It’s vague again, I know, but selecting and announcing a date is a strategic matter for our publisher, and we both need to make sure we reveal it properly, at a proper time.

Q: What will be the main difference between Narcos and DDS? Like gameplay-wise, what's our end goal? Are the mechanics different? Any info on the main story?
A: There will be new stuff, there will be some old stuff. Something for everyone. You will play as Daniel who has recently been fired by the CIA when they started covering the tracks of illegal operations he was involved in. And as if that’s not enough, his family in Mexico is going broke as there are massive layoffs in their town’s businesses.
Daniel decides to take over the factory that’s keeping the town alive. But keeping it operational costs money. So now he's going into the BUSINESS. After all, it’s what he knows best. And you know what they say: BUSINESS is business, and business is good.
Q: Is the game taking place in Ghetto like DDS?
A: In 1989 there was no Ghetto, but the game will take place in the same neighborhood. Ghetto isn’t the name of the city, it’s a nickname given to this part of the city by its dwellers. In DDS x Narcos, you’ll have a fantastic opportunity to see the city on its way down. Right when the decay started.
Q: A graphic designer’s favorite color?
A: That depends on who you ask. One said blue, and the other one said “the color of sand”.
Q: Will there be gunplay in DDS x Narcos, and what can we expect in that game versus DDS?
A: At this point we can say, there will be guns. GUNS CONFIRMED! But wait, what can you do with them? That’s a story for another time, and not a spoiler to issue lightly. We’d rather show you than talk about it, you know.
Thanks for all the questions! Stay tuned for news, and don’t forget to check out the DDS2 demo, which you can play solo or in co-op!
