Editarrr is LIVE!

Editarrr

Challenge yourself and your friends in this pixel-perfect pirate platformer! Create your own levels and compete for swashbuckling supremacy on the leaderboards.
The Game
This is a free game we made as a group of friends. Available on steam, but also available on itch.io (https://yanniboi.itch.io/editarrr-2). There is even a web build so you can play it in your browser without downloading, but unfortunately some of the features (such as screenshots and tutorial levels) are not included in the web build so it really does give you the best experience if you download a build for your computer.
Early Access
We are going live today with the game in Early Access and starting off with a fun Level Design Competition [LINK]. While the competition runs for the next few weeks we will be keeping a close eye on the game as well as any feedback you post (here or on our community discord: https://gamedevfieldguide.com/discord). We will be continuing to make improvements, specifically to settings and configuration, performance and level navigation/tagging/discovery. You will provide the levels, and we will make sure people find them.
Streamer features
The most fun you can possibly have with your twitch chat is getting them to make levels for you while you stream and we are building a bunch of fun integrations to really allow chat to participate. So if you are planning to stream this game, let us know and we will do our best to support you to have a great time.
The future
This is our first proper release of a game to steam, so we dont know what next year will hold. We have a lot of ideas of what to add to the game, but we may also move onto other projects. But since this is an open project, anyone can download the code, open Unity and start adding things to it. So if you are interested in getting involved, keep reading.
The Community
This is a community project which means that anyone can get involved in a small way (share ideas) or in a big way (make art or write code / music to be included in the game).
GDFG
The Game Dev Field Guide is a podcast series focused on teaching you how to make and launch your own video games. This podcast is aimed at the beginner to intermediate level of game developer. Learn things like how to make crisp movement controls, making eye catching sprites, and marketing your game for it's big release. We have a community discord (https://gamedevfieldguide.com/discord) where anyone can join in our competitions, show off their progress, get feedback on games they are working on and learn with us, so feel free to join any time.
The Code

Unity
Unity is a game engine that allows anyone to start making games in no time and there are thousands of courses and tutorials available (for free) to get you started.
Github
We have opensourced the creation of this game (https://github.com/LPGameDevs/EditarrrPublic) so if you know the basics of making a game in Unity you can pull all the code down to your computer and start unpicking our (hopefully not too terrible) code to see how the game works under the hood. If you are interested we would be happy to give you a tour.
