FAQ: When will DOOM VFR be available? DOOM VFR will be unlocked on Steam at 7pm ET on Thursday, November 30. What are the supported control schemes? DOOM VFR supports both motion controllers and a variety of control schemes: The Steam version of DOOM VFR supports HTC Vive controllers and gamepads. You can use a traditional gamepad to enable free movement, similar to the movement controls you experienced in DOOM (2016). The smooth turning option allows you to turn horizontally using the analog stick. You'll also be able to teleport, or enable burst movements to quickly rotate your view. The game also supports a 180 turn movement to allow you to quickly turn to defeat enemies behind you. What do I do if the Doom VFR Application closed down when I had to reboot my headset? This is a behavior of SteamVR. If you need to reboot your headset for any reason, make sure to hit a checkpoint first so you do not lose any of your game play. What do I do if DOOM VFR keeps crashing on my 2k / 4k monitor? If you have a 2k and a 4k resolution monitor connected and set as an extended display, the title will crash on boot if either of those monitors are set to 1080p. When you launch the game, the secondary monitor will flash for several seconds before the crash will occur. How do I switch back to the free throwing grenades instead of having to use the grenade launcher? Once you have chosen to pick up the Grenade Launcher you are not able go back to throwing grenades. Why doesn’t my desktop window default to any aspect ratio greater than 16:9 and 1920x1080 resolution? This is working as designed. The game was designed for the Head Mounted Display. What do I do if Eyefinity does not span across all monitors? Eyefinity is not supported or compatible with Doom VFR What do I do if I did not receive an end of level stat screen when I finished Advance Research Complex? There will not be an End of Level stat screen for this level. You must load into the next level before being able to Save and Exit. Why am I taking damage when I telefrag a possessed Engineer/Welder Zombie! Telefragging these volatile enemies will cause them to explode, which will cause player damage. Why don’t I have the Max Ammo given from the Agent Cache Ammo Upgrade when I reloaded my checkpoint? Reloading the checkpoint does not save the max ammo. To avoid losing this ammo, make sure to not reload the checkpoint until you get to the next combat arena and use the bonus ammo. The upgrade is still there and the cache will disappear but you will not have the extra ammo that was given to you. Why can’t I interact with Demon Destruction? Demon Destruction is not an intractable in Doom VFR. What do I do if the explosion from when I throw a Grenade away from myself causes an explosion that damages me? When you throw the Grenade in Doom VFR, do not hold down the Grenade button again before the grenade thrown has exploded. This can cause a secondary explosion to happen to the player resulting in damage. What do I do if while waiting on an elevator, I rapidly interacted with the call elevator button and now it won’t work? To resolve this issue, reload the last checkpoint. The elevator will come when called and take you to your destination. What do I do if I quit to the Main Menu when playing the tutorials and now my Dossier and Map will not open? To resolve this issue, restart Doom VFR and finish the Tutorials. What do I do if the MegaHealth secret and the Doom Doll Secret does not pop when I pick them up? To resolve this issue, reload the last checkpoint and collect the item again. Why does my Teleport Ribbon disappear when I am still holding down the button? The Teleport Ribbon will disappear if your left hand touches any sort of geometry, such as walls. To avoid this scenario, avoid touching the walls with your left hand. What do I do when my controls vibrate repeatedly and my vision goes black when I get close to a wall? This is to let you know when you are getting close to being out of bounds in game. If you move away from the wall, your vision will clear and the vibration will stop. Why can’t I find my save while playing on Ultra-Nightmare after exiting out on a level without being killed? When playing on Ultra-Nightmare you cannot leave the game unless it is at the End of Level screen and the player must select “Save and Exit.” Exiting at any other time will cause the save game to be deleted.
