Hey guys and gals!
As the game’s still on the road to the full release, we wanted to share a bit of behind-the-scene stuff with you and kickstart our devlog series, where we’ll explore different aspects of Party Monsterzz production and what can you expect in the final game.

Pictured above: the spirit of cooperation
Let’s kick it off with the single most important aspect of our game: cooperation. As the name suggests, Party Monsterzz are not lone wolves, so in order to achieve their goals they’ll need a companion or three. The game’s not simply about sucker-punching your opponents, no. It’s about sucker-punching your opponents, together 😍
Here’s how we foster the cooperative spirit based on the design of one of the game modes available to you: “Push the Ball!”

Not everything begins on a PC screen.
You and your party are tasked with pushing a giant ball through an obstacle course to the finish line. It’s a task that’d Sisyphus blush by itself, but beware! Your efforts may be thwarted by your opponents, as both teams can sabotage each other by setting off traps, or making the obstacles more difficult to pass.
This double-layered approach forces the players to coordinate their actions and sabotage the opposing team while keeping the ball rolling. Simple misunderstanding between the teammates may lead to the opposition coming out on top.

Before...
We didn’t want to overwhelm the players, so despite the considerable depth of this mode, different challenges, modifiers, and gameplay features are introduced one by one in separate phases. Each of them requires the players to switch up the tactics and adapt, while still cooperating. New challenges and obstacles are accompanied by new opportunities and power-ups such as speed boosts and sabotage immunity, keeping the gameplay fresh and engaging.
And while we love to see the glorious chaos erupt on screen whenever two teams compete, our UI designers are working very hard to ensure that everything is clear and understandable to the players. We’re of the firm opinion that players losing the match because they comically bumped into each other in a moment of miscommunication is much funnier than those same players getting beaten because they had no idea what’s happening on screen ;)

...and after!
That’s just one example of a varied array of challenges awaiting you in the final version of the game. We hope you enjoy getting to know a bit more about our design philosophy and we’re hoping to share a bit more about the technical side of the production in the future devlogs, in the meantime:
Party on!
