[p]I spent 2 years on working Hardcore Survival and now it is time to use player feedback to drive development.[/p][p][/p][p]The game will not get better if it stays on my computer so I need to make it public. [/p][p][/p][p]I wanted to give Hardcore Survival for free but that is not good for sustainability so I settled on the price $19.99.[/p][p][/p][p]It cost around $90 per month to run just one server with AWS so setting myself in a path to bleed money 24/7 is a little worrying.[/p][p][/p][p]Servers can be free because any player can be a server but to provide a good experience the server ideally is dedicated and online 24/7 just like Rust does.[/p][p][/p][p]My goal right now is to make development sustainable by releasing the game and later hiring fiverr developers and artists to keep delivering improvements using whatever revenue is generated.[/p][p][/p][p]One big concern[/p][p][/p][p]I think I'm coping thinking that there will be money and that money will be used for development.[/p][p][/p][p]I think the game reviews will be mixed at the start and hopefully I can deliver whatever players want and get good reviews.[/p][p][/p][p]I do it because of hate (Joke)[/p][p][/p][p]One of my main inspirations for doing this game was playing Ark Survival Ascended and feeling like it was lacking main things like houses being safe and defendable, points of interest in the map and workbenches.[/p][p][/p][p]I hate the way Ark Survival Ascended never had good pvp and all the meshing bugs compounded into an experience where you just pray a hacker will not instantly delete your house.[/p][p][/p][p]As a Rust player[/p][p][/p][p]As a Rust player I was thinking that Ark needed a base building system just like Rust, and monuments, and workbenches, and scrap, and no rollbacks, and traps and stuff like that.[/p][p][/p][p]So then I started thinking that maybe I can do a Rust like game but it is also like Ark.[/p][p][/p][p]I tried closing the gap on the technology side, things like having a unity project that is multiplayer with decent guns.[/p][p][/p][p]Then I was worried about it having Rust like base building.[/p][p][/p][p]I managed to solve the technical challanges[/p][p][/p][p]So I kept trying and now I have Rust like game and it is multiplayer with persistent servers so on the technical side I'm pleased with what I built.[/p][p][/p][p]That is something but is it fun?[/p][p][/p][p]It is, or at least I hope.[/p][p][/p][p]But I know it might not be so that is why I need player feedback to drive development[/p][p][/p][p]What I will not do with Hardcore Survival[/p][p][/p][p]I will not be doing any pay to win features or major paid DLCs.[/p][p][/p][p]Whatever monetization there is it will be moving toward Rust like cosmetics and just skins.[/p][p][/p][p]The current issue[/p][p][/p][p]After 2 years of development I have to arrange some parts to provide a competent first experience.[/p][p][/p][p]I hope to spend like 2 or 3 days moving stuff around or finalizing what that first experience will be and deliver something on December 2025.[/p][p][/p][p]Conclusion[/p][p][/p][p]I will be delivering Hardcore Survival Early Acces on December 2025.[/p][p][/p][p]On my way to finding the courage to release Hardcore Survival I found some old Rust devlogs and it made me think I have a comparable product or game just like how they started.[/p][p][/p][p]https://rust.facepunch.com/news/38?category=devblog[/p][p][/p][p]So it is time for me to release Hardcore Survival and try using player feedback to develop any new feature or bug fix.[/p][p][/p][p]As a closing statement please see Hardcore Survival as when Ark released or early Rust days and try providing a positive review (Feel free to lie in the reviews if you have to (Joke))[/p][p][/p]
