Development Updates - April 2023

Wander Vyrosa

A tower-defense game with roguelite elements on fully explorable mini planets! Travel the galaxy of Vyrosa, land on planets, and defend your drilling equipment while mining fuel to continue your journey throughout the galaxy!
Greetings wanderers!
As we mentioned in previous posts, the Pumpkin House Games team has a lot of work planned for Wander Vyrosa. We've got some great feedback so far since release, and look forward to hearing more! Although there is still a lot of testing and iterating we are doing internally, we wanted to update you all on what our goals are moving forward in the form of a (very) loose "development roadmap"! Please note that these updates and the actual features are not yet set in stone, so they may change as we continue through the development process. Let's get into it!
Update 1 - Quality of Life and Game Balance
Our main goal for our first update is taking what we have already and making it a lot more intuitive and enjoyable to play. After sifting through all the feedback we've gotten and getting the game into the hands of the community, we were immediately made aware of different aspects of the game that felt off- notably the balance of enemies throughout the normal gameplay progression. Now that are core mechanics are more refined than they were previously, our main goal is to balance the game so battles feel fair and exciting to play through. In addition to balance changes, we also hope to add full native controller support and re-assignable controls during this update! This is something we haven't done quite yet since the actions available to the player have changed quite frequently. Now that we have the core actions better defined however, our goal is to add support for these features to improve the accessibility and customization that Wander Vyrosa offers to players.
Update 2 - Gameplay Variety
For this update, we want to add additional content that builds on the core of Wander Vyrosa and prevents the game from becoming too repetitive. As a result of focusing more on mechanical soundness up to this point, Vyrosa doesn't yet have a ton of content to go along with the core mechanics. However, for our second update our goal is to add more variety to gameplay.
What will this additional content be?
Although we haven't nailed down exactly what this content will be yet, we have a few ideas that we want to investigate further:

Planetary modifiers (i.e low gravity or atmospheric effects) that will modify how each planet feels, and how enemies and towers interact
Multiple defense modes, such as enemies on some planets following a randomly-generated single path instead of wandering aimlessly until they find the laser drill
Additional towers and mods that provide more options for defense on planets

Into the Future
We hope you are as excited as we are to see new mechanics and content added to the game! As always feel free to join our Discord and follow us online to share your thoughts and keep up to date with the latest Wander Vyrosa news!
