Development Update #1: Better Explosions

Welcome to the first of many Development Updates on Steam. I will try to post these weekly rather than daily. Let me know if this is far too many animations. LEADERBOARDS This week (and part of last) involved working on the leaderboards. Here is an example of what they look like: At this point, there will be high scores for each level, including the ones that other players make. You can also compare your own high scores, friends and globally on Steam. NEW ENEMY Because the leaderboards have taken a while, its been dull, so here's a new enemy. Its name is Triben and its first version was a bit painful: Then other versions followed: Because all enemies have larger versions, here is the larger Triben: This week was about making things explode... better! For a few months now the explosions were a bit weak, so they were bulked up. The bomb wipe now lets the player continue moving during the explosion and there's no longer a slow down toward the end (when there are 1,000 explosions at once). Thanks to Twitter and friends there was some great feedback on these massive explosions. Here is the finalized version of the boss-explosion: SMALLER ENEMIES ARE MORE DANGEROUS Smaller enemies were never much of a threat unless you run into them. They were meant to be fodder to replenish things and boost your score. So now these lesser enemies will fire one bullet among them. Easier difficulties fire that single bullet less often than higher difficulties.
