This is a long one but if you play at least once a week you should read so you have an idea of what's going on.
The Test Branch change done to Pro Mods and Radial 315 are to my liking (ignoring the braking issue) and I am satisfied with it.
What actually changed?
The grip levels were untouched, however tires are now very punishing if your car spins too much, it will want to kick out to the wall. This makes it so no longer can someone pull up with a tune that spins to the 330 and still goes rounds (As I have done in the past). Some people's turns are unaffected as they never spun before, but some like me had to really change the power management to stop spinning and be able to get down the track straight.
This change will be applied to all cars (one or two classes at a time, and after I fix the incontrolable braking), however doing so now would yield no change, the difference is only felt in conditions where there's more power than grip, which only pro mods can really do right now. All other classes are going to see changes gradually through the coming weeks, starting with Pro Imports and Outlaws. It will take time but every class is gonna get grip removed. I am very dissatisfied with the tuning on classes like Imports, Limited Street, Pro Stock, because they have more grip than power and become just putting all the sliders to max and driving it perfectly every race. I do not want this to be the case and as such I will be making core changes to each class to lower the grip to a level where it will actually take adjusting to track conditions to not spin.
This will be done as a preamble to the host tools that were teased earlier in the month. Right now these tire physics changes will still have people go down every pass because they have a tuneup for each track % where they know they won't spin (Due to how rigid the system is) When the new weather system gets implemented, good event hosts will be changing things and mixing and matching track prep/temps/air quality, to make events feel dynamic and make people actually tune for the conditions. Sharing tunes will be a lot less effective when each race's conditions are much more unique than just a track % that works the same across tracks.
Of course, removing grip is gonna affect ETs for those classes so they will slowly be adjusted to where they should be again. This process is likely gonna take a couple of months but there will be test branches to test regularly, and in the end will result in a better game for everyone.
The game will also continue to get quality of life fixes and UI improvements for a smoother experience.
