Dev update - more content coming!

Within a Dead City

Within a Dead City is a tiny RTS / autobattler inspired by Majesty. Hire autonomous heroes to search for gold and glory. Build shops where they can spend their hard-earned loot. Place bounties on monsters to influence their behavior. With skill and strategy, you will find riches in the fallen city.

Hello all, First, a big thanks to everyone who bought the game. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I've had making it. The first round of player reviews are in, and... woof. I'm looking at 4 positive and 5 negative reviews right now. No bueno. The silver lining is that most of the negative reviews aren't saying that it's a bad game. Instead, they're saying that there's not enough of the game. "The game doesn't have enough content" is the common thread running through those. Good news: I can make more content, haha. I'm gonna do a two-week sprint of coding and playtesting in order to improve the game before the Steam Strategy Fest begins on August 28th. The major thing I plan to add in is an additional game mode where you fight off and invading goblin cult. (Of course, they'll be worshiping Nidhogg the World Eater.) Unlike other monster types, these goblins will be following the same system you do. You'll fight off mighty goblin warriors, berserkers, druids, and mages, and you'll have to destroy their base before they do the same to yours. I want these goblins to somehow be symbiotically coexisting with the already-existing monsters. In a game of Invasion (still working on a game mode title), you'll still have the normal wandering monsters and monster lairs as you do in a Conquest game - just less of them. My initial idea is that the goblins can also raid the lairs and steal the stashed gold, perhaps also buffing the lairs (bonus HP? bonus guards?) when they do so. When the goblins steal enough gold, then more goblin buildings sprout up like mushrooms. What I like about this initial idea is that this doesn't change the total amount of gold present in a game by much, so balancing might be a little easier. Time-allowing, I'd also like to add a small campaign to the game. This would be a small five-to-ten mission campaign to retake the ruins from the goblin cult. As the final battle of the campaign, I'd have the best heroes from each of the previous missions face off against a giant goblin army - or maybe even Nidhogg himself. I'll also look to add more special abilities to your heroes, and maybe add in some powerful neutral buildings that the player could capture and add to their guild. I'm open to ideas - sound off if you have any!
