RIFTSTORM

Enter the world of the Occultical, where secret societies and operatives exist alongside mythic threats from across the cosmos. RIFTSTORM is a Co-op Looter Shooter ARPG + Roguelite where you complete missions, gather loot, and react to in-mission upgrades to create unique builds.

Many of you have been waiting for this, maybe more than we do! This round of testing owes a big thanks to everyone who participated in our first playtest last year and submitted bug reports and detailed feedback. We’re bringing a few more things for you to try out this time, and we hope to hear from you all again. Last year, we also challenged all playtesters with what we thought would be a ridiculous number of mythics to kill in just under a week – you beat it and then some. That inspired us to act early on our promise to build Collaborative Entertainment by teasing out a small sampling of how we intend to take player action and turn that into consequential effects in our universe. For you who haven’t seen it, make sure to check the link: https://www.mythicprotocol.com/doggy-daycare This time around, we’re ramping up the stakes with a new mythic and the story around it – more details below. Our game development team has been working hard in tweaking, changing, and adding new features for this playtest (surely for those who joined our previous playtest will notice the improvement 😉). On the other hand, our creative team has been throwing in some amazing artworks such as comics, the Shade as our new mythic threat, and Hertz and Spraybot as new Operatives. We’re also able to present you with cool content like the Announcement Trailer and tease content in social media. And of course, a fun ARG to crank up the hype. What’s new on Riftsorm upcoming playtest: https://twitter.com/playRIFTSTORM/status/1764818130285760512
What to look out for
If you've been keeping an eye on our social media channels, you may have noticed a series of posts integrating into a "Rising Threat" campaign. Our creative team has been dropping some cool hints about our upcoming playtest, which you can view on our website: https://www.mythicprotocol.com/ Don’t worry if you missed it, our creative chief loves making these ARGs even if they tend to skew a bit too esoteric for most people. Keep and eye for more ARGs and puzzles in the future – who knows, there might be more in there than just hints for our next event. You can still check out the threat index campaign below, and keep an eye out on the many, many, many easter eggs we’ve put in there.
Collaborative Entertainment and You – or how you will affect our world:
Expanding on the small glimpse of Collaborative Entertainment that we teased - after many of you decided to murder 5,000,000 mythics in just a few days. This year’s stakes are much higher. New to this playtest is the inclusion of 3 Keystone missions. These missions not only advance your access to the global threat levels they also tell a short narrative arc of the Mythic Protocol’s efforts to contain the new threat posed by the mythics known only as the shades. As you dive into the story, know that it all culminates in what we call a Flashpoint event. An event that will irrevocably change the future of our universe directly through your action – or inaction. This playtest, that flashpoint event is called Operation Tombstone. We won’t give too much away right now, but suffice to say: we wish you the best of luck as you take on one of the hardest missions we’ve put out to date – and remember: your successes, or failures, matter. That’ll be it for now, but we wanted to end with a few notes from the team that hasn’t slept in the last couple weeks getting this test ready.
Remarks from the dev team:

Fandry - Creative Director Hello everyone! During this playtest, our team has been at 110% effort to address the feedback we got from previous playtest, and even added new things to enjoy. Highlights including early version of coop lobby (that are much requested on our last playtest), a new summoning-oriented character “Spraybot”, new enemies, new weapon loot (that have unique mechanics waiting for you to, uh, exploit i guess), early test for story missions, and more. Current challenge tower (Site-19), along with a new Ultimate Showdown (Op. Tombstone at Georgia), is actually challenging. We’ve been yelling in panic at the dev room trying to clear them after work hours, so we’d love to see you try too. All in all, though a lot of them need time to implement, your feedback have been really helpful for us. Please enjoy the playtest, complain to us, and let’s build RIFTSTORM together! Valent - Head Producer Hey there, Playtest 1 veterans and fresh recruits! Guess what? It’s that time again—playtest o’clock! We’ve been digging through your feedback from the first round. And I’m very glad that our team has successfully added some of it. As Fandry mentioned, we do have a Lobby List, so you could play coop easier. Added some solo missions to grind and also story missions! And lastly please welcome our new good boy “Spraybot” and Daddy “Hertz”! I’m very nervous and excited at the same time for this playtest. I do hope you guys can have fun finding some OP or weird combination with our weapons and lythons! *cough* Siphon Shot *cough* Yes, despite tons of sweat and a few all-nighters to make this happen, Rifstorm is still far from perfection. So don't hold back on the critiques, suggestions, and bug reports – we're counting on you to help us shape this game into something even better. That’s all from me, thank you for being here and let’s play the game! P.S.: For veterans, if you're missing Steve, he's hanging out in Site-19, feeling a bit lonely. Pay him a visit, won't you?
